  1. It has been reported, if you read the posts above, that they mixed the bridge and neck positions... So you might have a neck position P-90...
  2. Personally, I hate compressors... I use a tube amp and I feel it only removes the only reason I like tubes... The dinamics!
  3. well chances are that with a 23.5" scale on the high strings there is a high A on this guitar! Anyways, for having played a fanned frets acoustic guitar, there is really almost no difference in playing than a normal guitar! At least not on the one I played (was not fanned 2" though)
  4. Personally I prefer the sound and versatility of a lower output pickup... Just need a boost pedal and you're set! BTW, the sound of a neck PAF (duncan '59 in my case) is GREAT for metal And you can still play clean
  5. You could try wireing it like a strat, with a 5 way super-switch, but replacing some by series wireing?
  6. So... One of my main guitar is in dire need of a refret... The frets need to be crowned and there's about 1mm left of frets, so it's pretty obvious it needs one. So i'd like to know how hard is it for a beginner to refret a guitar? If I take my time how well can I expect my fretting to be? Because As far as I can tell, it seems like it would cost me as much to have the guitar refretted than to buy the tools needed for it... Thanks!
  7. Oops... Guess I should read things better next time!
  8. Is that a parker singlecut shape? The name kinda gives it off
  9. I have seen acoustics made entirely of ash... even the top! So I say why not? There's not that much to loose either so you could try it!
  10. So it's like... A H C D E F?? That doesn't even make sense
  11. get any on-off button at radio shack or such and you'll be set..... Just wire it before the output jack or something.
  12. I am open to ideas. When you say frame it, would you do it by routing out the bleeding area and filling with another type of inlay material, or colored epoxy, or ??? I was thinking routing out the bled area and filling with, say another wood or something contrasting... Would probably look nice anyways.
  13. I like the desert-burst too... And btw, I wouldn't put a duncan Custom Custom in a lp-style guitar... Out of fear that it would be way too muddy and dark. Id much rather go with a JB, a Custom, a Custom 5 and such.
  14. Why not try to add some kinda frame around your inlay? It would look really cool and hide all of the bleeding!
  15. Well, if your pocket is deep enough for it, you could just remove the template and route using the sides of the pocket as guides?
  16. I'd like to add that, as someone explained, the more hollow your guitar is, the more vibrations it dampens, and the more in dampens vibrations the less highs it'll have... again, It's pretty easy to offset that simply with different pickups... with very bright sounding pickups, it might sound just like any Les Paul... So it's not the only thing that can change sound... Also remember that the more wood you remove the more feedback you're likely to have after... Anyways, good luck!
  17. Ever heard of Jon Catler? listen to that: http://www.lolorecords.com/Hyperspace.mp3 Microtonal music... It's really GREAT once you turn your brain off regular music!
  18. Probably some type of stacked HB... Looks cool though! If it sounds like crap, you could always try to re-wind it...
  19. Watch out. I truly LOVE the Custom 5, It's what I got in my main axe, but it's a REALLY bright pickup... So much i'm thinking of wireing it to a 250k pot, actually. I wouldn't try it in a guitar that bright...
  20. Thing is, that probably is alder... At least anything else than mahogany seeing how it's the cheapest Epiphone around... You may want to find some maple veneer or something like that to do that color (or make it opaque.....)
  21. Well, I don't think it's that bad actually... I can see how it provides the advantages of a set-neck (a carved heel, mainly) but you still can change the neck if anything happens to it (the main argument for most ppl that like bolt-ons...) Not that it'll have much effect on sound or playability... at least not compared to an AANJ...
  22. Bah, depending on what he wants, it probably woudn't be very hard to play anyways... Really, keyboard isn't hard at all when you get to play on one for a while!
  23. Well, maybe you could change the neck pickup instead? Because I can't think of really many other pickups to tame brigthness... Your problem is getting a good sound when the pickup selector is on the middle setting? Maybe you could try a petrucci-type wireing?
  24. Well, As I said, It's pretty much the same principle as a diafragm mic, but I like the idea of implempting it to drums! It sounds like a good idea, but I can see 2 problems: 1.How good will it actually sound? 2. Will you be able to make a 'mesh' of magnetic material strong enough to withstand the abuse of a drummer bashing it (and god knows some drummers hit hard on their drums)? Anyways, I wish you good luck with your project!
