  1. Awesome! I love it! How is the playability with the lower horn?
  2. Surprisingly enough it doesn't! It fixates itself in a pretty stable and comfortable way instead, the upper part can dig itself into the chest if you sit bad though, but very rarely.
  3. Thanks for the comments. The shape of the guitar is purely aesthetic and I wanted it to be true to the original body shape. I saw someone making a single cut version of it earlier and I really didn't like the cutaway look on it. This is what the original looks like:
  4. Hey everyone! I just finished building this guitar and I thought I'd show you. I actually started making it over a year ago but I put it on hold and I've only been able to work on it during the weekends when I've been active. It's based on the Caparison Marcury but I modified it by using a regular Strat neck, 2 humbuckers, 1 tone and one volume pot. It's incredibly well balanced even though it has an odd shape! It's neither neck nor back heavy and It hangs really nice. Doesn't weigh more than a strat either. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- SPECS Maple neck - 25,5" scale (bought but I refinished the headstock) Alder body 2 Japanese no name humbuckers Nashville T-o-M Electronics from Stewmac Acrylic car lacquer (Motip) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- This was actually my first woodwork since the butter knives back in school so I've really satisfied with the result. It's also the first time I every do a spray paint job. http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc205/o...ar/DSCF0710.jpg http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc205/o...ar/DSCF0714.jpg http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc205/o...ar/DSCF0717.jpg http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc205/o...ar/DSCF0721.jpg http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc205/o...ar/DSCF0723.jpg You can see all the steps and my progress and my project page: http://www.freewebs.com/jens_eklund/index.htm Hope you like it cuz I sure love my new guitar!
  5. Make a double humbucker 6-sting guitar with a transparent red finish. It will look SWEET! EDIT Actually, you should have the same features as the Ltd F-50 that I posted earlier. T-o-m bridge and string through. ^^
  6. Ahhhh, I can't get enough of this one! I've loved it ever since I saw the first build pics on "Planket". I really want this guitar!!!!!!!! Such a great build Pukko! /Jens (Toshiya)
  7. Looks a little like one of these...but not as pointy.
  8. Hey everyone! I've been working on a guitar since February and it's going pretty well. Nice and slowly though, because I've had tons of stuff to do so this has just been my little project when I've been bored. Oh and it's been hard geting all the parts on a student economy so I bought a lot of stuff second hand when I found something with the right price. It's a trial and error project...the first but not the last guitar project. I'm currently sanding it and I'm going to rout out all the cavities in a week or two when the parts I ordered from StewMac arrives. Luckilly a local guitarbuilder is going to help me. Photoshop mockup: http://www.freewebs.com/jens_eklund/blue-white.jpg Which finish do you guys think I should choose? Body: http://www.freewebs.com/jens_eklund/body060523.jpg This photo is kind of outdated and I have sanded a lot on it since I took it... Body and Neck: http://www.freewebs.com/jens_eklund/Body-neck.jpg You can read more about it and follow all the steps on my homepage. http://www.freewebs.com/jens_eklund/index.htm Wish me luck!
  9. WHY, why, why!?! Why did you have to ruin such a beautiful guitar? It used to look so good... I really don't like the new colors and the pinstriping... Well it's your guitar...whatever makes you happy...
  10. It's just that the guitar that I'm copying, a Caparison Marcury, has neither a volume or a tone pot JUST a 3-way-switch. Personally I never change the volume when I play but I do change the tone so I thought that it would be more useful to me if I were to only add one pot.
  11. I'm building a custom guitar and I'm wondering if anyone knows how to wire 2 HBs to a ON/ON/ON mini-switch and a tone pot? I don't want a volume pot on this guitar and I'm a beginner when it comes to soldering electronics so I don't really know how... Could anyone please make/find/post a wiring schematic for me? Thanks before hand.
  12. Really nice! I love japanese graphics, but it would have looked even better if you hadn't given it a red burst.
  13. Yeah I know! XD But just wanted to show where I got the kana like thingies from. But like I said mine will more or less be a white Mercury but with the kana on it. I'm kind of busy with school right now and I'm looking for a neck that I can use. But I'll continue building as soon as I have time. It would be fun though if you could show some more photos of your venus. Maybe from different angles and the back. ^^
  14. I've never understood why people burn their guitars...
  15. I have no idea. I just copied it form one of his special versions: http://www.freewebs.com/jens_eklund/gift-55.jpg You can follow my project here is you are curious: http://www.freewebs.com/jens_eklund/index.htm
  16. Hey JoFa! You are here as well! The guitar looks even better now that you changed the bobbins and added the switchplate. I soooooo want that guitar...
  17. Nice work, but I think I prefer the original Venus design. The design Gackt made was already perfect. I'm actually building a Marcury right now. Gackt's other signature guitar. I'll try to keep mine as close to the original as possible though. But i'll probably use a strat neck with a custom headstock and double humbuckers instead... I won't have any controls either, except for a on/on/on mini switch for the pickups. I will probably make the control cavity as big as a LP one though...for eventual future upgrades. Here is a mockup pic of what mine will look like. http://web.telia.com/~u17403824/Other/Guit...te%20mockup.jpg I'm only in the sanding processes so far... Anyway, nice work man!
  18. Hi guys! I borrowed a tablebandsaw and I have a problem. It's not giving me a very nice cut... Zoomed in Is this normal? Do I need a saw with finer teeth? I guess I can just sand afterwards but it's a lot more convenient if I can get it even right away.
  19. Pine is pretty soft, right? Couldn't that be a problem?
  20. I agree with crafty. Bad idea... But let's not dwell in tha past, try to make the best of it. And you should probably sand it down again and do it properly this time. The surface looks really uneven.
  21. Haha! Told you so! Anyway, the guitar looks great. Hope you manage to fix those spots when you sand it back.
  22. That's what I call protesting against authority... Too bad that it had to come to this...
  23. Ahhh! A Black cat! You are sure to mess up now. Just kidding! It looks great. I really like the color one the mahogany. Keep up the good work!
  24. I think it looks cool, but it would probably look a little more balanced if you make the upper cutaway jsut a little deeper.
  25. That shape is...wierd...but I agree with jammy, nice to see someone doing it all by hand!
