Here is the original question, having some difficulty with the site not responding.
E.
Hello All, this is my absolute first post here.
I stumbled on this site and think it is incredible, the tutorials alone rock!!
I just purchased a Jackson body which I have sanded down.
It was in rough shape, i did all necessary wood filling wth plastic wood and and going to have to build up the sections between the pickups and bridge as it was not even. (I hope I can glue ontop of this stuff without it puffiing up?)
My intention is to apply a nice veneer to the top of the guitar as seen in the veneering tutorial on this site. Here is my question: where can i get a nice bookmatched (is that the word?) thin veneer top?
I went through the list of suppliers on the sire but to be quite honest it is VERY intimidating for a newbie who has never done this and doesn't have a good grasp of all this terminology.
Essentially I am looking for a 2 piece veneer of flammed maple (like on the tutorial) and a piece for the headstock. Thickness between 1/20th-1/40th of an inche.
Oh also, I am in montreal Canada but have not problems buying from a US based supplier.
The guy who sold me the Jackson is also selling some Curly maple veneer (1/40th") which he is going to make me a deal on , 10USD for the 2 pieces for the body and a pice for the headstock. Problem is that I will more than likely mess this up so I want to buy quite a few sets.
I have no problems buying 10 sets, especially since I will store the ones I dont use for friends who are starting projects.
So all this being said, can any one you provide me with some companies that have what I am looking for.... (esentially the same wood that was used in the tutorial ! or very close to that). I am opened to other types of wood if they have the same visual effect.
Thanks
