  1. It says all OFR's are 10" radius? Well that sucks unless their saddle heights are adjustable.
  2. I'm thinking about using an OFR on my next project. I don't know if their saddles are individually adjustable and I couldn't find any info on the floyd rose site about saddle radius either. I was going to do a 12 inch fretboard radius but I want the radius to match the bridge that I install. Anyone know more about this?
  3. okay thanks guys. I'll probably go with that setup then. I like how on those necks the truss rod adjustment is at the headstock instead of the side adjust. I'll be using sperzel locking tuners.
  4. I intend to use a graphtech nut, but with the headstock angle, is it possible to make it harder to keep in tune? Say because there's more pressure exerted on the nut, would the strings tend to get hung up there?
  5. I'm considering using a warmoth 13 degree tilt back headstock neck on my upcoming strat project. I'm also going to have it fitted with a wilkinson. Are there any implications of using a tilt back headstock vs. a straight pull headstock for the trem/nut?
  6. Okay I know I've asked this before, but I want to be sure before I order a body from usa custom or warmoth. I have experience with floyds and know they are the only way to go for super smooth action and dive bombs and such, as well as staying in tune. I've never used a wilkinson though. How good are they? What kind of action do they have? Also, during the construction process is it substantially more work to install a floyd instead of a wilkinson? third question, the neck I was going to have built will be a 12 inch radius. Which neck radius works well with a floyd? oh, and I almost forgot to add, the original floyd rose, do the fine tuners get in the way of your hand, palm muting or otherwise? __________________
  7. I just recieved my ESP back, les paul style guitar. I've gone through a few of the same model. This one I noticed when setting it up it has a low neck angle. When setting up, I have to screw the bridge and tailpiece pretty much all the way down whereas on the others I've owned they were significanly higher to get the same action. Is this normal or out or spec? The action is low enough as it is, but on the treble side the bridge is screwed all the way down to the body and there's no more adjustment room.
  8. Rio Grande makes the best single coils I've ever heard/used. I had a big bottom set in my tele (muy grande bridge and tallboy neck) and I (and everyone else that heard it) were blown away. I can't recommend these highly enough.
  9. My two favorite combinations are a Mahogany neck and body (own two guitars like that), and Basswood body and maple neck. As a matter of fact, my next hot rodded strat project I'm going to use either mahogany, alder, or basswood. How would you guys that have had more experience working with these materials directly compare basswood and mahogany? I like basswood because it has a real sweet smooth mellow warm tone to it and sustains nice. Mahogany is like that but brighter, and heavier.
  10. Yeah I know this has probably been beaten to death. But I think I'm going to use a a wilkinson on my next project because of it's simplicity and easier maintenance. Wilkinson owners, tell me more about this bridge, good and the bad. I like the range of the floyd but I don't go crazy go nuts on it often so it's not THAT important to me. Plus I like non-locking nuts too.
  11. Only because I can save a lot of time and money by going with a showcase body by warmoth, plus they already have a finish that I'm interested in. But yeah, Tommy does go the extra mile for his customers. That's something Warmoth can't do because of how much they've grown.
  12. Cost ends up being about the same. Finishing through roxy and the neck itself is more expensive than warmoth BUT USACG doesn't upcharge for a flat radius and the neck back contour I want where those two options would cost me an extra $70 at warmoth. They come out to be only a few dollars different. It really just comes down to the fact that I like USA's neck construction and how they feel and I like the fact that wamoth has in stock bodies that I can purchase.
  13. I was considering building a guitar from a Warmoth Strat body because they have a few in the showcase that I like and a ordering a neck from USA custom guitars. I prefer Warmoth's bodies and USACG's necks. Will these work as well together as say warmoth/warmoth construction? Will the neck pocket still be as tight? Anyone do this before?
