  1. Youre way is very cool, one way to do it is to use different coloured metallics like golds greens and blues marbilised on top of one and other before applying the candy, that way you get different tones of the candy as it goes over the other colors, if you know what i mean.
  2. Ok finally got my red ibanez headstock decal, should have the neck recleared and ready to string her up in the next week, after a bit more detailing.(matching sculls on yhe cavity covers
  3. Well since I started this thread the least i can do is contribute!
  4. metz ... son #3 wants to know, did you spray the pickups and pick-guard? He likes ... a lot!! Yes i did paint the pups and pickguard in the same paint as the body, but keep in mind u must us a plastic primer first for the paint to adhere well.
  5. I would love to see some pics of any customising done to shop bought guitars?
  6. Ive got something similar, its just a nicely finished ugly guitar,Im also pondering the size of the cans u are planning on opening with that thing, they must be f@#$ing huge!!!!Maybe u could place it inside one of those huge cans and then seal it back up for the safety of mankind! lol
  7. Still waiting on a headstock decal, its been over six weeks now and im gettin pissed, after many emails BestDecals.com finally got back to me and said I should have it by Tuesday,...fingers crossed, then maybe i can finish this one!!!
  8. My work uses chem-spec paints but any descent quality two pack paint would be fine,as far as polishing goes theres no need as two pack paints retain a full gloss straight off the gun.Its a great product but is not for the inexperienced, very toxic, and easy to get paint runs grrrrrrrr! I used an extra fast hardener for this one cause of the complex shape of the horns,it drys quicker and hence less time for runs and sags to form.Good luck.
  9. Thought Id put up some pics showing the process I used to refinish the guitar. [img=http://i40.tinypic.com/hvz3x2.jpg] bare wood, Two pack primer 4 coats , after being blocked back to get it truly level with more primer, next two pack black 3 coats, after sanding back with 800 grit paper I masked and applied the the red bevils,After applying the graffix I then gave it 2 coats of two pack clear, mocked up to see the final look.,then another rub with 1200 grit paper and one final finishing coat of extra thinned two pack clearAnd finally finished!
  10. Here in Aus we have alot of cars that have faux chrome mouldings through the front and rear bumper bars,it is quite flexible and should work for what u need,i dont know what it would be called over there, but over here its called" protector strip",walk into any crash repairer and ask them about it,it comes in different widths from about 3.5 mm to much larger,it also has an adhesive backing which makes it easy to apply, its easy to cut with a sharp knife, also try any car accsesory place good luck!...PS u wont believe its not metal, very realistic.
  11. thanks IPA i like the scull knobs u have there, they look killer!.
