  1. Welllll, it doesn't do it for me.......but I can almost guarantee there will be plenty here that think it's great. See OurSouls' Comic-caster. SR
  2. Huh. I would expect the opposite result. But you are correct in that would be exactly what you get if you reversed the strings like many left handers do. SR
  3. It's a good project, but I don't get the benefit of the reversed angle on the bridge pick up. SR
  4. This is coming along nicely and looking great. The carve looks excellent. These shots make the back look pretty thick. Are you going to carve that too, or have the chambers taken away that option? SR
  5. You got a part there that makes me think you're building a gun stock every time I see it. Then you put that big dowel in it and it goes back to being in an amp stand. Good stuff--carry on. SR
  6. Mostly jointers. Also hand planes and even sandpaper glued to a flat surface like a glass plate or table saw table, or a router table. SR
  7. Well, that certainly was a beautiful guitar.... And that pick-up combo ought to be awesome... I don't know if I could get off the fence easily either, but I could certainly see a lean developing towards the '54. SR
  8. Yes indeed, thank you very much. When routing the binding channel, was it difficult to stay on top of that cone shaped platform around the bit? SR
  9. That looks similar to some of finishes Killemall has done. I think his had something like a metalic base coat and then a candy coat that he pressed wadded up cellophane into. Do a search on his builds from a couple of years ago and you should at least get started in the right direction. SR
  10. +1 I was thinking the exact same thing as I read the OP. SR
  11. Oh, it's always interesting. Good luck with both Paulie. SR
  12. click on them Doh! Why didn't I think of that? I'm lazy, so I don't click on all of them. It's just a more enjoyable read if you don't have to click on them to see them. Call me spoiled. RAD's threads got better when he went to the bigger pics. Blackdog is an amazing builder, so I want to see it all. Yeah, I know....click on them. SR
  13. This is an excellent build thread, highly detailed and full of facts and background information and history. Plus your top shelf craftsmanship. So I'm going to repeat a comment Killemall made to RestorationAD. You need bigger pictures. Seriously, they don't need to be huge, the size the thumbnails point would be fine. Unless you've got a really good reason for not doing so.... SR
  14. The body shape complements the heastock nicely. SR
  15. I hate to tell you this, but I used that acrylic laquer clear--Duplex I think--and 8 months later it was still getting impressions in it from the shirt I was wearing. Apparently it behaves differently on wood than it does on metal. Mayyybe Krylon is better.....but I doubt it. SR
  16. That's what I was looking for. I'd say I got that button well and truly pushed. SR
  17. In my opinion it's only a black guitar from the side. I think it's a gorgeous purple guitar with a walnut back. And that finish is soooo deep. Really nice Paulie. SR
  18. I'd be afraid to set those points of tha vee on the bare concrete like that SR
  19. Very, very clean build.....like always. I know you don't like rings, but those white bobbins would look pretty nice surrounded by the same black as your bridge and knob. SR
  20. Your straight down headstock pics are creating an optical illusion that's messin with my head. You cannot see the HS angle and that make it look like the truss rod access hole is going to punch out the back of the volute. Foreshortening and perspective and all that.... SR
  21. Sweet and sexy. I like the hardware choices. Well done. Like I said before it's easy to forget that the neck and back are one piece. SR
  22. I remember seeing John's now that you mention it. You've told me that blades are hot or blades rock or something to that effect. I've never played any. How does the sound differ from a pickup with poles? SR
  23. Welcome Bill. You're in good company if you enjoy making sawdust. Looking forward to your projects and points of view. SR
