  1. Ordered some replacement pegs that should fit nice and snug, fingers crossed the measeurements are ok.
  2. Nope, no fixing screws. The studs themselves are Nashville style, so they don't directly go into the body, there are posts tapped in.
  3. It does, I mean if the strings are on it provides sufficient pressure for it to stay in place, but if I push it it does move a bit.
  4. Hey all, I recently bought a 1973 Shaftesbury SG custom, I noticed thay the TOM pegs are way to small for the peg holes in the bridge. At first I thought this was because all sorts of parts must have been cannibalized during the guitar's life but I found some photos and looks like this is the original bridge (haven't taken it apart yet, waiting on a set of strings to arrive). Anybody has any experoence with a bridge like that? Given that there is a chance for the bridge to move around, how is the intonation set and kept? Should I look for a new bridge or studs that fit better? Photo attached. Thanks!
  5. Thanks, that's really helpful! I managed to find some blurb from a 2008 post on another forum: "Made from 3mm acrylic which is 1 mm thicker than a standard scrachplate with a full metal backing to prevent any interference, it is easy to change them over, powered by a 9 volt pp3 battery (which is included in the price) and can be hidden in the control cavity under the plate in most Strat type guitars. These plates are not back lit , all the components are in the plate (except the switch) , giving you a light all around the plate and screw holes . The plates come in a variety of colours , Blue , Green , Red , White , Amber or a combination of 2 or more . And if that's not enough we even do one that flashes ( click the pictures to see our full range). No need to cut or route your prize axe , no need to solder any wires (this only applies to most strats and P basses), simple to install . The light shines out from the edges and can be clearly seen from all angles." I imagine that the edges are outlines and the actual opaque pickuard is a top veneer so the lights are in a sort of hollow area. I'll play with some perspex pieces and LEDs to see if it's feasable at home.
  6. Hi all, apologies if this is not in the right section of the forum, but wasn’t sure... I’m planning to add some lights to a strat pickguard as I like to mess around with LEDs. I found a photo of a lit pickguard that is exactly what I’d like: This was apparently made by a company called aurora project but their website seems to be down and all info on them is ages old, safe to assume they’re no longer around. Any ideas how a similar effect can be achieved? I basically want the outline of the pg to glow, I saw a tutorial using EL wire but that’s not bright enough and it can’t run on batteries. I was thinking of ising a clear pg, then putting LEDs in the cavities and adding a layer of reflective tape on top of the pg facing downwards so that the pg surface is basically masked and the tape would disperse the light to the clear edges but there’s hardly any space in the cavities of an SSS strat body. Doubt that would give the desired effect. Anyone knows how this aurora project pg works? Thanks!
  7. Thanks for the replies! The guy at the shop even told me to watch for the mixing order cause wrong mixing order can cause self-combustion...
  8. Hi! I'd like to refinish an Epiphone Korina Explorer. The guitar has been stripped and sanded with 180 grit. There's a company (I live in Hungary, so geting proper stuff for this is not that easy) that makes and sells many kinds of paints/lacquers, and I asked about their NC stuff. When they heard I want to refinish a guitar they told me they have a set of paint that is bought by many who refinish guitars. I ordered the stuff and it is polyester paint...is it really good for painting a guitar? I know that mostly NC and polyurethane is used...if yes any special advices about thickness, etc...? Thanks for any help!
  9. Sould I need to refinish the neck if I exchange the fretboards? I mean the edges should be sanded together, right? And sanging would most probably hurt the finish on the neck.
  10. Hi! first post here... I currently have an epiphone g400 SG with an unbound fretboard...I really miss the looks of a binding, and I'm asking if there's some easy way to replicate it...maybe smooth painting or something, because I think if I'm to apply real binding I need to refinish the neck... Oh, and I searched for a rather similar topic, but couldn't find, if there's one, please merge the two. Thanks for any help!
