  1. I think a maple with canary might look nice with the lavender.
  2. Yeah, I took that design originally and tweaked it a little to try to make it more comfortable to play sitting down and make it look a little less awkward overall. I also will add comfort contours and such as well as a contoured neck heel.
  3. Well I'm finally finding time to start my first guitar and decided to post the topic. The specs are: Body: black korina Neck: wenge FB: ebony stewmac prefab with lmii gold evo frets Bridge: gold floyd rose speedloader Bridge pup: EMG 81TW Neck pup: EMG 89R Controls: 2 volume, 2 tone, emg pa-2 preamp switch Let me know what you think about the design and the grain direction, I put it crooked to try to get the best stability on the small points and position the orange streak and knot in the outline. I will try to post some cad designs when I can to show it better.
  4. That'll be pretty sick when it's done. You going to do the fretboard real nice on this one too?
  5. I use GIMP for designing t shirts, very simple to use.
  6. Check the tutorials on the site, not the forum, jehle did one on how to do this with nitro.
  7. Try wetting the top and make sure you don't like it, that lower part looks like it could show some potential with clear. Also, a tobacco burst looks sweet with black limba, warmoth does limba lp bodies with it in the showcase pretty often and they always look sweet.
  8. You could always make a contrasting wood control plate (or pickguard) and make it a theme design choice.
  9. It would work fine probably if you get a single coil with a small base. The existing route should probably be filled in as well.
  10. Nice Job! Keep it up man, it's looking great so far.
  11. It just looks like a translucent stain or dye with a gloss clear over it.
  12. Oh ok, and no, I wouldn't want you to lob your foot off either!
  13. Lace Alumitones don't have any flatwork, but don't fit in a standard single-coil pickguard hole either.
  14. Thanks, that helps. Can't wait to start my build now, only a few weeks until I'll have time.
  15. If you can make me a jazz bass neck out of wenge for cheaper than a warmoth showcase neck, I might be intrested.
  16. It really is incredible and I definitely will be doing this one, I'm gonna comment on the site and wait for a reply.
  17. WOW! Really nice job, let's hope that purpleheart stays purple now, It would be a shame to have that all turn brown.
  18. Can you put a picture of the neck profile with dimensions put on it if possible, that looks really comfortable for how I play.
  19. Can you use a normal truss rod on a trapezoidal neck, or do I need to make an aluminum core? Building a core would be no problem, but I already have a truss rod I would like to use.
  20. You could do a mahogany or limba back to give it more of that les paul sound, not that it would make much difference with the EMG's, but oh well.
  21. Yeah, it does look a little odd, but remember it's the extended fret board causing that, it has 36 frets instead of 24. It would probably look normal with less I don't think anything can make this look normal.
  22. I'll do it for my first build since I have a thick wenge board to use. Maybe i can try this on my bass and mandolin builds I've been planning. It looks comfortable as there is never quite enough on the back of my MIM strat neck to keep me happy.
