    Was thicknessing a body blank today and went a 1/16" too far , oh well, it will be fine(i think )

    1) The back isn't shown at all in those last pics. 2) No. I used a pattern I found and adapted it for this purpose. I then used it to scroll saw the pattern into a huge f-hole. I guess that wasnt the back huh? lol I couldnt tell if that was what you did or if that was a decal, very nice work!

    like a full face respirator won't fog up in 3-4 minutes, paaaleeeeeeease if it doesn't have a breath deflector at some point it will most certainly fog up, even if worn for a few seconds

    I suffer from C.R.S. sometimes too I think these are the ones i used to buy: http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_cata...tId=&mmyId= I just use wd-40 anymore. just remember to put a little bit on a rag then wipe onto lens, don't spray it from can to inside your respirator, it doesn't take a whole lot to work

    Sorry to hear about your health issues! that is a funny statement from your grandpa, haha, haven't heard that one before. When using the wd-40 for antifog, put it on very lightly. Yeah, this forum is great lots of people willing to help and lots of fine craftsmanship

    They should keep your lungs working just fine. why the full face? Do you plan on doing more than painting guitars with it? Tip- get yourself some anti-fog wipes, some work better than others, wd-40 works pretty good too

    So i finally got some poplar for the body. I will be putting it together for my blank next weekend, couild've gotten it done this weekend but with it being memorial day I didnt have much of a chance to work on anything. I was thinking of using oak for my neck and going with an oil finish, but then i will have to rethink my headstock decal ideas. So i have some questions: 1. What method could i use to put on my headstock decal with an oil finish? 2. I was originally gonna use an all maple neck fretboard. If i go with the oak, should i go maple fretboard with the oak neck or just all oak. Def not gonna use rosewood for the fretboard 3. should i just grainfill the oak and proceed with lacquer?

    You will use that vise at the end of your table more than a router table... My thoughts as well I could still use the vise if i installed the router, but would eliminate the option for bench dogs. i think i am just going to do my routing freehand for now and save some money, if it doesn't work out well then i'll go get the table

    Resto- I will check out that guide. I seen a router/table(fixed base router) combo i may get at home depot for $99, the other router i have is a plunge router, i think it came from harbor freight maybe. I thought about making the vice end of my new workbench into a router table but I really wanted to use bench dogs on that end. Dean- Thanks Man! I am really hoping this turns out well, if it does my next 2 guitars will be awesome! 1 will be a carved top Anyways, glad you guys are enjoying it so far.

    Yeah, I am really loving inkscape. I am getting the hang of it pretty quick, it is definitely what i was in search of. It will certainly make it easy to make some headstock decals. Now i just need to find some good waterslide paper for my inkjet, suggestions anyone?

    Ok, so i downloaded inkscape and it seems that i am able to learn this a little easier, plus they do have pretty good tutorials and it seems easier to get nice crisp edges around text when printing. I have plenty of time to fiddle with it before i need to print an actual decal. Thanks for the recommendation!

    I installed gimp, it seems that i have alot to learn. I have never used any types of programs like these. Don't know a whole lot about computers

    the gorilla wood glue will be no more messy than titebond nor stain like regular/original gorilla glue, but best to stick to titebond for your guitars

    Adobe illiustrator and corel = crap load of money *** is a bezier curve?!!!! maybe this would be a good time to state that i am not very knowledgable about PC software and stuff like that I am gonna try gimp out, appreciate all the suggestions though

    I dont have photoshop, wish i did,lol. I tried the microsoft paint or whatever it is called. There is no way i could draw up text with any kind of coolness by hand, might be better off getting the guy down the road to have one of his chickens do it I have designed a small logo for my headstocks, but it is not text. I can draw guitar bodies and such, I just cant draw words out. Thanks

    I'm no picasso! I am just basically looking to make a text "logo", like on a fender headstock(not necessarily the same font), just lettering No need for CAD, i'll just go old school for designing the guitars for now

    I am trying to come up with designs for a headstock logo to make waterslides, I was wondering if anybody could recommend a program/software for the pc that is fairly easy to use. I tried paintshop but i cant get text to come out on it smoothly, has very wavy lines aroung edges of text. Also, i dont want to spend a crap load of money either. Thx

    I ordered the spindle sander that is in that flyer, I also had $20 coupon code i got by e-mail, so i got the sander for 109.95 . I was tempted to drive the 3 1/2 hrs to their scratch n dent sale on saturday, but decided i better make some money, so i worked.

    I will do that, it will take a few weeks probably. I may just use it for my current planned build, it is cheap enough and i will get 3 bodies out of the lot. I've never even seen a cricket bat i don't think, lol.
