  1. There is no finish on. The kid i got it from was a dumbass. He scraped all the paint off. Thats also how it broke, I somehow "scraped" the wires off. And the neck is really warped. I'm willing to spend lots of work to make it nice though.
  2. I have more pics. I bought the whole, non-working guitar from a kid. As I said, I'm just trying to fool around with this until my good parts come in. Hopefully you're able to see this well enough. This pix aren't that great, I'll try to get some better ones when I find a camera. The headstock Just says Fender Jazz Bass, the patent logo, and a couple pat. numbers.
  3. Its a Fender Jazz bass guitar and a pass pickup. I just bought it from a kid for $5. I have no idea what the stuff does, so thats why im on the forum.
  4. Hey Everyone. I just bought a soldering iron to fix my guitar, and realized I have no idea which wire goes where. I have pictures for the working idea of what im facing. If someone is able to help me or draw a diagram for how to wire this particular guitar, that would be really helpful. I looked online but didn't trust the other pictures. It's kind of hard to see what wires are missing in this picture. I might just rip them all out and start over. Also, does anyone know what kind of pickups I have? I know this guitar is a piece of crap, but I'm going to fix it up nice. Any help is appreciated! Thanks so much!
  5. you woudl have to take off the fretboard, and put a new one on after. Is that a major replacement? Difficult? Just speaking hypothetically...
  6. forgive me for my ignorance, but are truss rods removable? would I be able to replace a truss rod in my guitar, or is it a permanent fixture? (and if broken, permanently broken?)
  7. Here are some of the pics. Yes, I know its a piece of crap and is missing a string. Can anyone tell me what kind of pickups those are? And im having trouble with the wiring. I cant seem to find a diagram online with my configuration. Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

  9. Yes, of course I soon realized that I had no idea what I was doing. So I stopped messing around with potentially fatal components. Ill have pics soon. Electronics were half out and trash so i just ripped em out. What are some good (and cheap) brands I want to look for to replace them. And what kind of paint should I use?
  10. Hey everybody. I've been playing guitar for a year and a half, and love it. Dedicated, and I play everyday. I've always wanted to build my own too. I have a wood shop in the basement, but have never attempted anything of this caliber before. All I'm thinking of is a simple, solid body electric guitar. The hardest part seems to be the neck. What tools will I need to build this? I would like to do this for as cheaply as possible (obviously) Is it worth attempting? Can this be done? Thanks everyone. Rock On!
  11. I just bought a Fender Jazz Bass really cheap. I'm excited to fix it up really nice. The things a piece of **** right now but it's gonna be NICE when its done. First thing that needs work is the neck. Its really bad. I can bend it back a full inch. I tried messing around with the "truss rod" thing but I have no idea what i'm doing. Should I clamp it down with C-clamps overnight? Can I fix it or can i just get a better neck? Also, I'm planning on customizing every aspect of this guitar. Anyone know where I can get some cool knobs, toggle switch, keys, and pickups? I'm looking for something not too expensive but I don't want just cheap stuff, if you know what I mean... Also, if i make this nice, and I mean REALLY nice. With totally unrecognizable, custom paint and whatnot... Is it still a Fender? Is there a way I can prove it's a legit Fender?
