  1. Need some advice on the upper portion. The bottom is curly maple, body is ribbon sapele. Neck is going to be curly walnut, fretboard will be ziricote. What would you use for the upper portion? I am thinking of some claro walnut. Has to be 3/4" thick. I tried some curly redwood but the router bit (Which was sharp) did some tearout and it's gone. (This is my own design for my personal line of stuff.)
  2. I am interested in this. I've been burned buying stuff off here before though, then when I finally complained about it I was told to keep it quiet since it was one of the better liked people on here that burned me. Just left a sour taste in my mouth and what you are offering is good and a good price, Im just wary.
  3. Mr. Riddlers should win over mine. His is much more intricate than mine, and I love that white wash. Awesome guitar!
  4. It's ziricote, not ebony, but thanks! I was going to back strap it, but honestly, I liked the way it looked so much I just left it be. That neck came out so much better than what I really thought that wood was gonna produce. Thankfully I squirreled away a few pieces of that.
  5. Here is another build of mine. Another JAT model. I call this one "Under Pressure". Specs are: Top: Flame Maple Body: Sapele Neck: Ziricote Fretboard: Ziricote with JE Guitars "Heartbeat" inlay Pickups: 2 Humbuckers with Zebra Bobbins. Hand wound by yours truly. 16.3k in the bridge, 12.4k in the neck. Electronics: CTS pots with .999 pure silver wire for wiring as silver is best conductor of electricity, shielded by copper tape, red button is killswitch. Cavity Covers: Flame Maple, easy access, held on with neodynium magnets Bridge: Hipshot Tuners: Hipshot Grip Lok Nut: Graphite Hand cut by Myself Hope you enjoy!
  6. Anyone know of a Piezo system you can put under the neck pickup area of a guitar? Really want to find one and I've been looking but can't find anything, just ones that go into the saddles of the bridge.
  7. This is what I came up with doing some sketches to kind of match what yall are talking about. Make the end piece an actual tail piece and recess a TOM bridge in there and have the strings go through the tailpiece. That would look cool.
  8. Not gonna get into all the ins and outs of what's in my head for this design, just wanted to show it for now. Next part will be implementing the build. Just wanted to get your thoughts on it. Any comments or constructive criticism is welcomed.
  9. Always wanted to participate in one of these. Although I already know I will be going against builds that will probably blow mine out of the water, just wanna see how well I fare against people with more talent than I have. Specs: Top - Curly Maple Body - Curly Black Limba Neck - Pernambuco Fretboard - Brazilian Rosewood with Heartbeat Inlay in Abalone Side Dots: Luminlay (All Green, except the 12th, which is 2 Blue) Pickups - Hand Wound by Me Bridge - Hipshot Tuners - Hipshot Open Back Grip Lock Aluminum Ferrule Block 2-Way Trussrod Curly Maple Cavity Covers Held On with Neodynium Magnets
  10. Thank you. No, no faded blue jean look. I know how to do that one. The customer wanted a unique color in a blue or turquoise, so I came up with this. Also decided since I scraped the faux binding on the top I would do it to the cavity covers as well, just not sure how I like it.
  11. Finally the house build for me is finished! It's taken me FOREVER, but man this thing sounds SWEEEEEEEEET. It has absolutely insane sustain, just rings forever. Rings like a bell. Sounds great on distorted and clean channels. Holds tune perfectly. Here are the specs: Top - Flame/Curly Maple Body - Curly Black Limba with Custom Chambering Neck - Pernambuco Fretboard - Brazilian Rosewood with Patented Heartbeat Inlay in Abalone Side Dots: Luminlay (Green Double Dots On The 12th Fret, Blue On All The Others) Bridge - Hipshot Tuners - Hipshot Locking Nut - Graphite Trussrod - 2 way Pickups - Hand Wound by JE Guitars - 16.67k in bridge - 8.97 in the neck Control Covers - Flame Maple (Held On With Neodynium Magnets!) (Forgive the knobs, got a matching set on the way, just had to use these in the meantime, they're gonna be like the lone wood knob on there)
  12. I get my boards CNC'd. There is no way I would be able to get it that straight or clean otherwise. I have them done by Andy Birko of Birkonium CNC Services. http://www.birkonium.com/
  13. Here it is with some clear shot on it and a few options on knobs and whatnot. Gonna go with wood knobs instead of the black abalone ones. Just looks way better with those. Also gonna do wood bobbin pickups. Will be a bit until I color cut and polish it. Hope you all enjoy!
  14. Yes sir. I use neodymium magnets to hold the covers on. The cutouts are for helping taking the covers off.
  15. Here are all the other ones that I have going on. Building a telecaster for a crippled guy, it will be the last build I do of other peoples designs (Hopefully) My JAT model, faded blue jean finish. Ziricote neck, east indian rosewood neck, luminlay dots throughout neck in the shape of a constellation. Blue dots are on the 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 12, etc.... Ribbon sapele body. Quilt maple top.
  16. Here is the body all stained and shot with sealer, sanded to 400. Went from Siberian Tiger stain to Bengal Tiger stain.
  17. Just pulled this off a guitar. Comes with springs, claw, trem arm, posts, pretty much all you need to run this. Missing a few of the saddle blocks but you can just screw the allen head screws against the ball end of the string. Asking $175 shipped to continental US.
  18. I have the ryobi one from home depot. But it is just too small for my needs. Anyone know of a larger router table that comes with a router, or is at least easily fitted for around $500 with router, $200 without router? Yes yes build one, I don't want to. I'd rather buy it.
  19. Would that stew-mac dremel base help out any? Use it to cut what you can and hand chisel the rest?
  20. As far as the spalted maple soaking up all that lacquer, did you go over the top with CA glue while working on it?
  21. I thought about that too. But I looked up Movingui's hardness and it is at 1230. Considering that African Mahogany is at 1395 and other neck woods used such as Limba (731) and Walnut (1010) I feel safe using this. Plus this piece is quartersawn. Those of course could be famous last words too. As far as the color, this guitar really isnt for me. It's going to be a demo guitar. So I am trying to have as much mass appeal as I can.
  22. This is actually the way I have been leaning in my head. Doing the ribbon sapele back and staining it transparent black and having an ebony FB. I had been pondering the curly black limba body, but I think it will be too many figured woods on there. Crazy - I don't do bindings on figured maple tops. I like the faux binding much better. Even when I do binding, I prefer to use wood to do it. I've been thinking of doing a purple or indigo faded burst much like this.
