  1. What kind of CNC machine is that? That doesn't look too awfully big or expensive, (which I am sure it's still thousands of dollars, but maybe not TOO many thousands.)
  2. Now have high grade maple up for sale, PM for pictures and prices if interested.
  3. oh, i forgot, be sure to sharpie the wire before leveling.
  4. You're technique is wrong. You dont just hit it with your radius block until you get to what you think is good, if anything you lightly go over it with a leveling beam a few times, then tape the fretboard and get a fret rocker and check every fret for high and low spots, level the frets individually, then crown the frets.
  5. I think everyone here is a good builder, myself excluded. I have learned something from almost every single active poster here. It's nice to have something to compare your work against and to have guys set the bar so high. It makes you try harder and go for perfection on your own guitars.
  6. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160667669755 If there are no bids I am open to side offers.
  7. Those are everywhere around here. Not even joking.
  8. Around here, especially in any valleys, you can find some very suitably sized trees. A lot of them around here are taller than telephone poles with very wide trunks.
  9. I went ahead and bought those two steel city tools, they work perfectly. I live in west texas, and we have no only an abundant supply of oil and strip clubs, we also have one thing that while is rarely used on guitars, is very stable and has the least shrink/swell when exposed to humidity. Mesquite There are literally millions of them around here, no one gives a rats ass if you cut them down, and more importantly, it's very easy to work with. I cut a tree down today and thought I would see how well it milled, I was hoping to get a fretboard blank out of it but alas that was a no go, I did however get a good knack for working it and it planes out gorgeously. The only con, it can be full of knots, you have to cut down thick branches or the huge middle stump and hope there are no knots. You can see a full on here, but I knew there would be on this as it had branches coming out of it. You can see it has a beautiful contrasting color and interesting grain patterns.
  10. I had read that the dust extractor wasn't very good on these, but havent read a bad review on it's actual cutting at all, nothing but rave reviews on it actually, and same for the jointer. I am going to investigate what you said though, see if there is something I am missing.
  11. I am wanting to get a helical head planer and new jointer, this is only 13" but should be good for what I need, and the jointer, well I just need one in general, and this seems like a good deal on another helical head one, and since I used mainly figured maple, I thought this would be good to have. Anyone ever use either one of these? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Steel-City-13-Portable-Planer-w-Helical-Head-40300H-/400245033506?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5d30768a22#ht_4028wt_906 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Steel-City-6-Granite-Bench-Jointer-w-Helical-40610GH-/150666798745?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item231470e699#ht_3751wt_1039
  12. Cant wait to see this one, I love this guys work.
  13. I e-mailed you about buying all the templates from you.
  14. I am probably one of the very few here that will not recommend the hyscock book. I ordered it when I first started, and it doesn't take you through building a guitar step by step, and anything the book does contain of value such as neck angles or scale length's you can find on here using the search. I quickly turned around and resold it, it had zero help in me building my first, second, third etc guitars whatsoever. Some people around here use it and really like it however. It's only about 20$ used on amazon.com so it's not a huge loss if you find no real value in it like me.
  15. I want these, really bad, that is some awesome neck pocket fit. How much to ship to the US?
  16. Trying to go for some faded looks, I think I pulled them off pretty well! Can't wait to get a build going along where I can get these going on.
  17. FINALLY got a big enough bandsaw like I've been needing. It's a jet 14" 1hp saw, with the riser kit and carter guides for 350.00 used. He also threw in 5 timberwolf blades. Got it home and used it, after tweaking a few things it works like a champ! Can't wait to get a gate and start resawing!
