  1. I'm in the process of building a RR, 24 fret, 25,5" but i just figured out that since it's a 24 fret the fingerboard is gonna be longer and there for more fingerboard wood is gonna cover the actual guitar than a 22 fret, so i was wondering if there is anything i can do to help the guitar look as much like the original 22 fret RR? Coz if not the Humbuckers will be so close to each other because of lack of space, and that isn't gonna look good.
  2. I'm going to buy this bridge on a neck through RR, and I'm trying to find the neck angle... I've drawn the whole thing in 1:1 using a bridge hight I'm not sure is correct. Anyway my calculations seem to be incorrect so I was hoping one of you genious' would help me figure this thing out. So what I need is that bridge's hight and if you know a easy way to find it, the neck angle. (I'm not really sure on how high I should draw the string action... This is my first build. According to my calculations the neck angle should be either 4.68° or 1.72° (yeah I know... 1.72 doesn't make sense right?)
  3. hello I once saw a jackson sharkfin inlay set on ebay ad i was thinking if you could get that somewhere on the internet? some online inlay store or something like that? stewmac only has LP inlays and warmoth only puts sharkfin inlays on necks you buy from them, but i need a set of inlays that i can put in myself... any ideas?
  4. No... I'm just a regular schmo starting his building career
  5. Can somebody who has a storebought Jackson RR model tell me the thickness of the body? And also if someone knows, if all (or most) Jacksons, Gibsons, Fenders etc. have pickupcavities routed with an angle(the neckangle) and maybe even the bridge (doubt that though )

  10. Hi, im new in guitar building and im gonna be starting my first neck and i've read pretty much everything you have to know to do a decent job if you don't mess up but there is one thing that just popped up in my mind, how thick should the heel be? BTW it's a bolt on Explorer, if anyone can help me with this small problem that would be great
  11. So, i just started recently on this guitar, but i can't do anything more until mid august because i'm gonna use equipment at my school, but what ever, the body has been cut out, and thats about it, but i have also made a picture in photoshop of how i want it to look, well things can change but this pretty much what im going for, maybe another color, and probably another inlay, but thats is what i was hoping that you fine guitar making & loving people can help me with, this inlay is just something i drew to get the picture done, not really the inlay for this guitar but okey. If you could come up with some cool looking inlays that suit this guitar that would be great (no dot inlays thank you, this is a custom made guitar, so lets not dull it up with normal dot inlays:) ) This is the body: and this is the drawing: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/chr...MyExplorer5.jpg Enjoy
  12. Is it really that easy? btw im a noob and i love that finish, im planing to make my project with quilted or flamed maple and that kind of finish, so do you prepare the wood like you would for spraying paint? just sand sant and sand? or do you just sand maybe a little with like grit 260 then stain black sand back, blue and darker blue stain on the edges? do you mix some blue with the black to get the darker finish? or do you sand the black less on the edges? sorry if im hijacking your stuff but it's just to awesome not to copy
