How'd you cut the slots for the letters? That looks sick!

This is probably a dumb question, but is it necessary to bend frets before hammering them in? Im sure it makes things easier but I need to know if its necessary to purchase/make a fret bender

Im just gonna fill them and sand it down flat, much simpler

Eh, before I have destroyed a large amount of scrap wood with the router and have a bunch more experience under my belt, I'm probably gonna stick with either filling it or possibly sanding it down

Thats what the plan is but I'm wondering if the filled parts will have a different texture or if the paint will cover it

I recently started my first build. Its a basically a tele-custom body shape, im planning on putting a single humbucker, (lp jr style) with a volume control, to get my feet wet in wiring. Havent thought too much about the neck yet, but im thinking 25 1/2 scale length, 21 frets. My local lumber yard is a little dumb so I ended up getting two long poplar planks and cutting them into three pieces each which i stacked 3 high and 2 across. This led me to having an excessively thick body, as i was aiming for 1.75 in. I purchased a router and figured I'd use this to cut the body down to thickness. I had no prior experience with a router so after a few practice runs on scrap, I went to the real thing. Most of the process went pretty smoothly, until, ... oh god no... fuuuuuu... When I looked at the body I saw several "pot holes" where I accidentally, tilted I thnk is the right word, the router. Now I have no idea what to do, maybe fill them maybe sand it down, I just dont want to make it too thin. Ill post pics soon...

Get someone with a strong arm to hold it for you, it shouldnt move around too much, if you cut a little outside the lines, you should be fine

tell me more about those, are they solid aluminum, hollow, wood underneath?

My collection includes two bottles of titebond and some super gorilla glue. Im much too lazy to take a pic as you all can prob imagine

theres actually a little plastic piece you can attach to the jigsaw which will direct the blade and make it cut straighter, and if you have a long enough blade you should be fine. just make sure to cut safely outside the lines, because theres still a chance of the blade slipping.

I already have a functioning pad sander. Is it worth buying a RO or will suit the purposes fine.

Im looking into hot rod truss rods and I saw that there were three kinds, slotted nut, 4mm allen nut, and 1/4in hex nut. Which do you prefer and why
