  1. Actually, the gold was also not my idea. the floyd was taken from a strat that was given to me along with the tuners. I thought that the Merlot color contrasted it the best of the choices I had narrowed it down to. If it were me I'd go with that classic cream strat with chrome hardware and white pickguard. Similar to the Yngwie strat pictured on that page. That could still be in the future, but I'm thinking of putting together a LP or possible a PRS type after I purchase the Jackson.
  2. Thanks for the comments. I appreciate it. I really like the way they came out and am quite suprised that I was able to accomplish it by just reading articles and the boards and such. The "W" is my last initial and it was put there by accident. I wanted something to fill the void of the Kamikaze photo on the Lynch model. I also didn't want to put the Kanji letting either so the compromise was the pseudo kanji W suggested by my buddy's girlfriend. I think that came out the best, and had the least preparation. Funny, my girlfriend loves the strat copy and told me the Kamikaze was too metal and dated looking, but it seems like everyone else likes the Kamikazi better. I'm neutral myself because I love the traditional strat and have always wanted the Kamikaze but $3300 is an insane amount for that ESP IMO. These were not kits btw, I just ordered certain parts here and there after I compiled a list of the things I wanted. These 2 were made because of my old strat. This board really helped me with some repair problems on my old strat and since it went so well I decided I may have the ability and resources to do one myself. The rest is history. I'm thinking about 2 more in the next few years, but for now I really have my mind on a new USA Jackson Soloist. I've always loved that one and can now afford it LOL. Getting a monster deal on it for about $1400 brand new. The parts equal approx. $1375 without shipping, labor and tax. Seemed like an impossible deal to pass on. Thanks again guys and keep the comments comin', I love to read them. - Bobby
  3. Hi everyone! I'm very proud of the 2 new strats I recently finished. I'm very new to building/putting together my own guitars so bare that in mind when you see the photos. The strat copy is an all maple Warmoth. Maple body, neck and fretboard. 5 pound body and a standard thin neck w/ the compound radius 10"-16" and 1-3/4 nut width and 6100 frets. Fender tuners, original Floyd, Yngwie bridge DiMarzio and 2 HS-3's in middle and neck. The other is my version of the George Lynch ESP Kamikaze. Poplar body about 3 lbs and a USA Custom Guitar neck. 10"-16" radius, 1-3/4 nut, 6000 frets, Jackson profile (about .810 at the 12th fret). Mini Schaller tuners, Screamin' Demon Seymore Duncan and original floyd. Hope you like them! Had fun making them and now playing them. Did everything myself, stain, paint, clear, set up, electronics. Thanks for looking. http://www.wolfegoaltending.com/guitars/stratocaster.html http://www.wolfegoaltending.com/guitars/kamikaze.html
  4. So basically I could use either pole for hot? The common of the import switch has a jumper already. it's the one labeled 5-6. the electronic board on the side labels them 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8. According to Stew Mac the imports are 1234-5678 with the poles being split down the middle. If the poles don't matter then the rest is history. Thanks for the help.
  5. I'm very new to wiring my own guitars and am trying to put together a Yngwie set up. I have 2 Dimarzio HS3's and 1 YJM. I have the layout right from Fender and it seems pretty cut and dry. The part I'm having a problem with are the poles on the 5 way switch. I understand normal 5 ways have pole A and pole B on opposite sides with the spring on the side of the hot wires from the pups. I'm trying to understand which pole the hot wires from the pups go to. The other problem I'm having is I have an import switch the the both poles in a row pole a 1230-0123 pole b Normal 5 way being 0123 Pole A opposite side 1230 Pole B Import switch being pole A 12300123 Pole B So does it matter which pole the hot wires go to? and if anyone would like to elaborate on this set up pls. feel free. Thanks.
  6. Here's a bump and a link to the repaired tremolo hole. It's now ready for a new hole to be drilled and for clear coating. I'll post pics after the reassembly of all the new parts. Tremolo fixed Thanks for the suggestions, Bobby
  7. Another nice suggestion, thanks Frank. A lot to think about on this one. Keep 'um comin' guys!
  8. I do like the idea of reinforcing the area with a thin piece of metal across the front after a bondo solution is applied. Just as a footnote, I did not route this body. It is a Warmoth body that was originally routed for 3 singles and the person I bought it from routed it for a double in the bridge. He apparently routed it just for the thought of the pick up and didn't realize what he was doing to the bridge. This puppy is going to live again! I'll post some pics after it's done because I'm anticipating being very proud of the results. Thanks for the help - any other suggestions will still be appreciated!
  9. Here's the link to the pics: Tremolo Pics Thanks,
  10. I have a strat body with an original Floyd Rose Trem. The routing holes for the pick guard were made too big and didn't leave enough of a wall for one of the mounting screws for the trem. The hole colapsed of course. Does anyone have a procedure to fill the hole for rerouting and to strengthen the surrounding area so this does not happen again? I have pictures if anyone would like to see the situation. Thanks, bobby@wolfegoaltending.com
