  1. Cool! Did you just use a regular drill press for the ferrules?
  2. Whew. You just keep me coming back man. Beautiful job on the neck. What did you use for around the heel and volute? those are areas i have some trouble with.
  3. This is crazy. excited to see how this will be figured out.
  4. Thanks guys! Rapfohl, that's awesome, I'm so glad.
  5. Looks cool! Are you planning on leaving the body shape the way it is? I would consider using a template and router to make sure the shape is really perfect. To your fretboard taper question: Is the neck already tapered? If so, then you can trace that onto the fretboard by laying the board on top of the neck with the centerlines lined up, and then marking the width of the neck at the nut and the heel. Then you will have points at either end that will show you how it should be tapered. You connect the lines and there you have the shape of your fretboard. Next, you do a rough cut on a bandsaw to those lines. from here you can go two ways. You can either sand it carefully with a sanding block until you get to those lines, or a method i prefer, glue the board onto the neck with centerlines aligned, clamp it really well until the glue dries, and then use a router with a following bit to trim the excess to exactly the shape of the neck.
  6. this is really just beautiful clean work, especially with all the hand tools. It seems as though you really have every step very carefully thought out, and it shows. The design is cool too.
  7. Here it is! photographed in cloudy weather, unfortunately, but im really happy with how it came out. the setup still has a lot of issues, but that will get there eventually.
  8. Looks great! I can't wait for the professional pics
  9. cool! Just wondering, what caused the spot of what looks like bare wood on the left side of the body?
  10. Good progress! The headstock really cleaned up nicely. if you're spraying the rest, why not the headstock?
  11. That's pretty funny. The name is certainly memorable, which is probably the most important part about naming anything. The logo is awesome, by the way.
  12. It really does! And you're right about that. unfortunately, it doesn't get back until a week from today, and that's killing me; but hey, considering how good its looking, I can't complain. I have done the wiring in advance, but I still need to do all of the fretboard work, including sealing the inlay in some way when it gets back. Needless to say, I will do nothing but work on the guitar once it comes in.
  13. But wait... it gets shinier keep in mind this is all being done for me for free. and that reflection is of some fluorescent bulbs, or so it appears
  14. Looking forward to it! your other build is sweet, to say the least. just wondering, where did whalehazard come from?
  15. Love the creativity here. its looking really cool.
  16. I personally think it looks really incredible. Please don't strip it! Honestly, I think the flaws in it are ones only you, the builder, can see. But if you won't be happy with it unless you strip it and refinish, i guess that's what you have to do.
  17. This is looking super cool. I think birdseye maple is way under used.
  18. Got some pics back from the clearing process! also, webshots doesnt let you edit photos anymore? bs
  19. Wow, thats crazy stuff with your bridge pieces. im surprised the result is so clean.
  20. cool. i would hate to see you ruin the clean look you have going on right now. not that there is no way it will work out on the front, but i would lean towards a less is more mentality on this one
  21. the headstock is BAMF. really really cool. Love the designs all around, and super clean execution. keep up the good work!
  22. I think the headstock looks perfect as is. If I were you, I'd put the signature on the back.
