  1. talking about scale length and stuff, got me thinking. if a longer scale length looses the tension, what effect does having a semi acoustic style tail peice, so the strings go beyond the bridge and down to the bottom of the guitar have? your dramatically increasing the length of the strings, but does it not make any diffrence anyway, because anythign outside of the nut and bridge does affect it?
  2. ive just been playing my friends fender strat, and it struck me how less the string tension was compared to my les paul. both guitars have ernie ball 9 super slinkys. obviously they are very diffrent guitars, but what exactly is that makes the les pauls strings so much tighter?
  3. why does it only have five strings but empty space on the fretborad for an extra string? its a lurvly guiter, but i dont see the point in not having 6 strings if the neck is still the same size
  4. i saw a picture the other day of zakk wyld playing a les paul with the strings put through the "wrong" side of the bridge and then wrapped over the top going towards the TOM. what does this do? im guessing it relieves the tension slightly as the string is longer, but your only adding about 1.5cm's more string, so i dont see it making much of a diffrence.
  5. thats alright, im not tryig to simulate the acoustic sound, it already has an acoustic pickup in the bridge. i want to create a sound similar to jack whites live sound. i had a look and it appears there is no bracing near the bridge that im going to hit if i place it correctly. i might use the soundhole cover idea seeing as its easy and means not damaging the guitar
  6. i have an acoustic guitar that i hardly ever use, and some variety of humbucker i removed from my les paul ages ago. i was thinking that for a bit of fun i could attach it to my old acoustic. it wouldnt be hard to do, and it i wouldnt be bothered if it messed up or sounded bad. but just out of interest, does anyone have any idea what it would sound like? its just a standard acoustic guitar, nothing fancy and a normal les paul pickup. how do pickups react with acoustic strings? thanks for your time
  7. i was just testing my pickups by putting them on a high output setting, and holding my tv remote over them while holding down a button. the tv remote creates a clicking sound. im using a les paul with standard pickups, and i noticed somthing odd. when i selected the individual pickups the clicking was significantly louder then when i had both pickups selected. is this meant to be like this?
  8. why does the neck get wider nearer the body?
  9. i just broke my e string and i cant get to the shops for a while. is okay to use a B string in its place and tune it to e? obvously it will feel wierd, but will it do any damage to ym neck?
  10. what paint was used on claptons fool sg?
  11. anyone have any ideas on how i could could attach a sheet of broken glass to the top of my guitar? when i say broken, i mean shattered rather than in peices.
  12. i was at my friends my friends house using his amp, and i was getting some feedback from his amp. but i liked it, you could make some interesting sounds with it. i tried it at home, with my marshall MG50 dfx and i could get no feedback at all. why is this?
  13. i was just looking at LPjr's when i noticed that they dont have a bridge, just the tailpeice. what use does the bridge have and how does the LPjr get around not using one?
  14. a friend gave me an epiphone acoustic neck, can i use this on a solid body? obviously the heel needs cutting down, but other than that i cant see why i couldnt.
  15. i have this hollow body guitar body with no neck, and seeing as i dont have a bass i though it would be nice to convert it to one. however i am unsure about is the position of the bridge. and how it will affect the body. seeing as its hollow will the extra strain from the bass strings damage it? will i even need to move the bridge? or can i just put in new one where the old one was. im guessing it needs to be moved due to the diffrent scale.
