Im going to start building a new parts guitar next month and i've decided on a vintage 'ish' telecaster. I'm looking for a colour similar to this http://www.provide.net/~cfh/54tele.html. Preferably in Aus, but i'll ship it from anywhere, and i'd prefer it to be ready finished, so i don't have to wait months for it to arrive. Thanks.

I'm sure this has been asked at least 47,251 times by now, however i was unable to find the answer searching. With the fingerboard radius, is lower or higher better for chording and bending. I think that lower is better for chording, however i may be wrong. I am going to test out new guitars and i am particularly interested in the '57 american vintage strats, however they have a '7.25 radius, i just need to know if this is going to seriously affect aspects of my playing, or if the difference is mostly mental. Thanks

So, i changed my mind for the final time. Can anyone help me get a warwick rockbass cad, (w/neck if possible, if not thats cool too) i played one today and it rocks.. Also i have victorian ash for the body, does anyone know if thats a good bass wood. Thanks

Hi im just about to start building a bass and i was wondering if anyone could draw me a CAD of a z style bass, eg yamaha rbx http://www.guitar.com.au/guitars/bass/yamaha/RBX270.htm Even if someone would just blow it up to full size, i need the basic body outline for a template but i lack the editors to do it. i dont think paint has that feature. Any help is appreciated.

Well im sort of in a rural area so its a fair hike to a shop. I dont really have a problem slapping but they just arent soft enough for me, its probably just the string size, i got 45 - 105 ernie ball standard

So you think just lowering the action will fix it. I got a standard 34" and nobody else seems to have a problem with it.

I've had my bass for a while now, and it just doesn't play very nice. You know that feeling on higher range instruments where the strings just want to work with you, you know theyre really soft and good for slapping. Well, i just cant seem to get that no matter how hard i try. Can anyone tell me if it's the strings or bridge or anything like that. I just replaced the crappy strings with ernie ball slinkys. Thx

Dude i know your really gonna hate this answer, but just keep sanding. It may take a while but just get the coarsest you can get and a sanding block and just keep at it. If you do it well minimal wood will be taken off.

thanks for the reply EDITTED, im asking stupid questions so what, i couldnt find it i asked, isnt that what this boards for... anyway im not trying to build a guitar i just want to install binding so just keep your negativity to yourself. Learn some respect, and use the search feature. You've got two weeks to sort your attitude out

I wanted to know how to install binding, i keep reading discussions where it is routed in, does this have to be done or can you just glue it to the edge. i have an arctic white strat i want black binding on. thanks

What is a better type of bass for slapping, p or j, im asking ebcause i need to know what pickups would be better, and before you ask i dont want a p-j bass because i don't really like them, also what would be the best sort of pups to give me a great slaping tone, im in australia so i cant really get my hands on anything good im sort of limited to http://www.bmusic.com.au/category766_1.htm

Do you slap, that could affect position as you need more room in between the pickup and neck. Basically it is all down to personal preference, bridge for an airy trebly sound, neck for a deeper bassy tone, slapping should be about the same distance as a stingray about 2/3rds of the way from the neck to the bridge as in neck----pickup--bridge

The pickguard is the scratchplate and don't let music shop owners look at you like a retard when you say the other one, they did it to me. Remove the neck, it will save so much hassle that you might as well its very simple, just unscrew the 4 screws and take it off beat me to it frenzy!!!

ok, basically you unscrew the pickguard after taking off the strings and depending on the length of your wires simply flip it onto the body. if you can't, unsolder it from behind the jack plate and from the claw at the back. Painting has been covered and you can find all the info by searching and using the main site www.projectguitar.com and go to finishing. You can use basically anything to paint her but their are a few standard ways that most people use, you can also find them searching. I painted my guitar with spray cans. Last of all exactly what other mods do you want to make, im sure people here will help you with specific things

And what he means by that is: 1. Don't Try, 2. Don't Try, And last of all, unless you have done an electricians course and you actually know what you are doing blueprints WILL NOT HELP YOU. Do yourself a favour, go down to your local music shop and pick up a real nice set and put little stickers on it caus thats about as close as you should go to building one.

What wood are standard stingrays usually made of, i tried checking the site but it didn't say it anywhere. Is maple too bright sounding for a bass fretboard because i just love the look of it, i don't know why... Does anybody have a cad of a stingray or can anyone do me a favour and blow one up in photoshop, i don't have it.

I thought it would be better to build a neck first, more accurate when building a body and i thought if i did a neck prperly how bad could i possibly mess up the body. For a bass neck ill have to finish the maple won't i. Also is there a point in scalloping a bass neck, or is that sort of a guitar only thing? I wish i was from the us, thisd make this stuff so much easier

Nice reply perry. When i get the money i'll probably be buying the parts off you anyway. Is their a tone difference between different nuts and fretboards? Also is there any way youd be able to do the headstock angle for me, i just don't want to try it and screw it up

yep just paint the whole cavity with conductive paint, its got nothing to do with the inside parts, its just to stop the signls from outside getting in.

I'm building a neck first before i build the body? can i put a angled headstock on it, what are the benefits and will i have to change anything on the body to accomodate this? What is better for fretboard wood, ebony or rosewood? What sort of fret wire should i use, i was thinking jumbo size? I will definately need carbon rods for support won't i? Will the neck wood being flatsawn affect anything? It's rock maple 13/16" x 4 1/2" x 34" and lastly, what is the best type of nut to use? I play mostly slapping.

Hi i cant access the downloads section because i havent donated or anything (shall give when i recieve) But i was wondering if any of you knew where i could get some full size cad drawings for a bass, guitarbuild only has guitars. Im looking for a sort of yamah rbx style, but if anyone has one i really want to build one that looks like a Stingray.

I'm planning on building a bass in a sort of yamaha rbx 170 style I was thinking of buying some wood from perry and need to know a few things. Which do you think will be better for a bass body African Mahogany, Brazilian Mahogany or Blackwood, Don't really want wamp Ash and don't like the sound of alder, my current pbass is made of it. Is there any benefits of two piece woods that have been joined or a single piece. What does 'machined' mean and for a carved top is lacewood a good looking wood that can be easily finished? Also nobody has made a definitive guide on installing a truss rod, how is it joined onto the neck, at what points, and is it preferable to have a access point at the headstock or the heel?

The poor boys burst doesnt quite help me enough though, it shows how to do the edges but what is the basic process of bursting. Dont dismiss this please, i have tried searching.
