  1. I am used to using the normal 5 ways with the 8 tips alternating on the left and right. So I got one with them all in line and though it would work the same... I found that they don't. Does anyone have a conversion diagram??? Or perhaps a decent explanation of how they differ? Basically I am wiring a strat with some personal mods, but if anyone had a strat diagram with the five-way like I have (all prongs in a line) I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
  2. One more question, would I use 500K pots or just 250s?
  3. Love that idea!!! Plus, I wouldn't have to mod the pickguard at all, I would just put the a/b selector in the lower tone control and I would be off flying! Thanks a buch!
  4. I have a JB and 2 Dimarzio Fast Track (181 nck & 182 mid). What I would like to do is wire them all in a new guitar with a 5 way switch. It would have one Vol and 2 tones like a strat. My other option would be to place the JB in the brg with the 181 in the neck controled by a Tele style 3 way switch. Controlled by 1 Vol and 1 Tone. Then an on/off toggle and Volume to control the 182 in the Mid. Any thoughts on which would work better? Any thoughts on hooking up the first option? Thanks guys.
  5. So basically, what you're saying is if I take to screw and screw it through, that eventually it'll hit the bottom. And then continue to screw and eventually it'll push the post out. Thanks for your help
  6. I was wondering if anybody could help me out with a little project that I'm working on. I have an American Fender Strat two point trem in I would like to remove the two bolts so that I can convert the guitar into a hard tail fixed bridge. But is there an easy way to remove the two bolt holder is without destroying the guitar? Thanks for anybody's help in advance.
  7. Yeah I thought about painting the headstock green to match the body. The only problem is not sure from going to keep the neck on it or replace it with the original neck and then use the baritone neck on a different guitar. Of course, then the whole idea of copying the pick guard would be out the window too Thanks for the comments!
  8. Thanks for the help. So I would assume that wiring a HB in Series as opposed to Parallel may give it a different sound?
  9. Well, I have been working on bodies and necks for a while and I have finally gotten to the point of wiring the badboys up. Unfortunately, I lost my "handy dandy" book somewhere in my last move. So could some one pont me to a place or give a quick definition or example of the terms: Series, Split, & Parallel? Thanks for the Help!
  10. Here is my first custom which started as a 1993 USA Plus Strat and has been modified over the years. The color was the limited Caribean Mist. The neck is a Warmoth Baritone 28 5/8" thin Flame Maple Neck with Ebony Fretboard. Bridge and Neck have DiMarzio Hotrails and in the Bridge is a Fender Lace Sensor. The Pickguard is a 1994 Custom Shop Special. Has a two point trem which I have backed to make it "hard tail" with some small strips of maple. If I could change one thing it would be to find a custom Conversion Hard Tail bridge. I bought one for $50.00 but it only fit other models. I got a freind working on a special Plate at his work but the quality is yet to be seen. Only other thing I am not sure of is the head stock. I like the Flame Maple look but it doesn't seem to jive with the guitar. So a solid color of Black or Green to match the guitar or I have thourght of trying to duplicate the pickguard on the head stock. Thoughts on this and anything else is definitely appreciated.
  11. Thanks guys. Living in the adirondacks, which you think would have an abundance of wood places is actually quite lacking. The one place really only has say like 1x14 (actual sizes). So that is definitely easier to do. Thanks again and any other comments are appreciated!
  12. So I was wondering if there would me any MAJOR noticable difference Tonally if a guitar was glued with say two peices of 1"x24"x24" top & bottom as opposed to how it is usually done with say 2"x24"x8 side by side?
  13. Thanks for your response. In regards to your question, it is a flame maple baritone neck with an ebony fret board. Really for now I just want a clear look to it. Up until the guy at Warmoth told me, I never really knew you had to put a finish on a neck. I thought you could just leave the wood. So I guess I just want to seal it off with something clear, and something that isn't going to be sticky. I want my hand to be able to slide easily. They guy from warmoth told me that he recomended "Minwax Wipe on polyurethane." Do others recomend this? Also, would I just rub it on the neck or the fret board too? Thanks for all your help.
  14. Perhaps I missed it while browsing, but I just picked up a new neck from Warmoth and I need to find out how to put on the initial finishing on it. Could anyone point me in the direction of a post or tutorial on how to do this? Thanks
