  1. Does anyone know where I can find a template trimming bit for a router that has a shank of 1/4", diameter of 1/8"-1/2", and a cutting length of 1/4" to 1/2". The length is the most important as I can only find ones that are an inch long. Thanks for any help.
  2. I left some maple with an unknown finish on it for about 3 years in my garage here in Houston. Houston is well known for its humidity. Can these be considered dried or not? I have been to lumber yards here in Houston that do not seem to be air conditioned at all, or very little. Should I bring these boards inside and if so how long before they might dry? The sizes are around 36" x 4" x 3/4". I planned to plane/sand off the finish and use them for neck wood. Thanks
  3. My last experience with epoxy was in high school. The stuff was fairly easy to work with and leveled out when pouring it on thick. How do luthiers do it? Multiple thin coats with sanding? Or a thicker coat with some sanding followed off by a thin top coat to cover up the sanding marks? Would masking tape be sufficient to protect the neck during application? Thanks for any help.
  4. I had an idea today and wondered if there was any merit to it. I plan on making a fretless bass with lines filled with a wood or a wood/adhesive mixture. Assuming the board was glued to the neck and the lines were cut, what if I clamped the neck down at both ends with a piece of wood in the center of the neck, thus bowing the neck slightly. Then I would fill in the slots. Will this add any rigidity to the neck when strung up? Has it ever been tried before?
  5. Thanks Brian. I will give them a call tomorrow morning.
  6. I can't seem to find them anywhere. Thanks.
