  1. actually you understood exactly what i meant, which fills me with joy, haha. i do change my strings on at a time (learned that the hard way a couple years ago). i used to tune each string and then do the next one using a tuner, basically how you explained, though instead of the 5th fret thing i just used a tuner. but i ended up with my bridge about an inch higher than it shouldve been, and the strings were still having the same problem. i had to take it to a shop and have it setup, and thats what im tryin to avoided is having to take in my guitar to get it tuned lol. thanks for your help, i will try your way out, and i welcome any other ideas. Nate
  2. whatsup everyone, so i have had troubles in the past with tuning my ibanez RG's, because of the locking trems. i did tons of research and now im pretty good at setting up my gear... one problem left though, when i tune my guitars with locking trems i can get them perfectly in tune (meaning each string in tune with the next) but as a whole they are about a quarter step lower than i want them (i want them in standard tuning, they end up flat). my thoughts are maybe to tighten the anchor screws under the back cover to kind of tighten the trem, but thats lack of experience talking. any help is appreciated, thanks everyone!!! Nate
  3. i have an ibanez btb406qm bass, which is probably irrelevant to my question. anyways, one of my strap hook.. pin.. things that your strap goes on, is loose. i cant screw it in anymore because the hole is stripped out and it will basically fall out. im not sure what to do, and im scared of doing a bad rig job or something because its a really nice bass. it seems to me a lot of ibanez guitars do this also, which is weird, anywho, thank you all for any help.
  4. well im quite scared to take apart my pedal lol, but thank you all for your help.
  5. well to answer the first reply.. my EQ on my amp is at bass- 10 mid - 6 or 7 treble - 10, the pedal that does my wah is actually and upgrade to the spider amp, and i use my wah with basically all ranges of notes, low and high. to the next post my distortion came on the ampeven before i got the pedal, i bought the fbv express pedal and that puts my four presets from theamp onto that pedal and gives me a wah/volume pedal, so all of my stuff is on the same pedal, but the distortion came on the amp so i guess that could be considereddistortion then wah possibly. im not so sure i can access my pedal from my computer either, i think my pedal is a step down from the one you can do that with. i will read up on that though. thanks for the help guys. nate
  6. i am looking for some help on improving my wah sound. i play ibanez rg's on a line 6 spider 2 2x12, and i bought the fbv express pedal for it which includes the wah. my problem is i get sort of a weak wah, there isnt much shape to it, and its not very intense. id like a much more intense and noticeable wah.. is there anything besides buying another pedal youd suggest? thanks for any help everyone! Nate
  7. well, i have two ibanez RG's, basically the same. my problem is that my guitar is perfectly in tune with itself. what i mean is that every string is about 2 LED's (on a standard tuner lol) below the note it should be at. the guitar sounds great by itself, but jamming with others is out of the question. how would i fix that, it seems when i do a full setup it goes right back to where it is now. if i tighten all the tuners it pulls the bridge up and stays at the tuning it is at. should i tighten the screws attached to the springs in the back of the guitar? ahhhh, thank you for any help guys and girls.
  8. okay everyone, i have some things for sale. the bass is an ibanez btb406qm, plays amazingly, great action. awesome sound, very versatile. why limit yourself with a 4 or 5 string, this is just awesome. one small dent, its on the top contour. the cabinet is an SWR 8x10 workingmans tower, it is in flawless brand new mint condition. and there is a SWR workingmans 15 combo. tweeter doesnt work.. i dont even think its wired in. but this amp is in fair condition. im asking $1,300 for the whole setup. i live in lenawee county, michigan. email me for pictures i couldnt put the on here. email - natedogg319@yahoo.com any takers? nate
  9. sorry i went back and read where he mentioned he erased the pics for that, i cant read lol.
  10. i read the tutorial about building a solid body by steve ripley, it was a great tutorial but it didnt say how to make the hole areas for wires running from pickups to knobs etc.
  11. i went and read all the tutorials that sounded helpful and i didnt really find anything, im just gonna keep trying i guess. and im gonna try what you said to do anyones input will help. thanks
  12. i changed the gauge from 9's to 10's, but im gonna get 9's, didnt change trem setup, i did stretch strings. when im tuning i start with low e then go from there, but when you tighten a string it puts more tension on the bridge so by the time im done tuning the high e the low is out of tune because the other strings have put more tension on the trem. and its continuous ill tune the low e side again and the higher strings will get out of tune, so potentially i could keep tightening forever trying to get everything in tune but lol obviously that wouldnt be right nate
  13. any help would be very appreciated. i have an rg 420 with floating bridge, and i was restringing it and being used to strats i took all the strings off, i didnt restring one at a time, when i got the e, a, and d off the bridge practically snapped back real hard, but nothin looks hurt. now i have the new strings on and its literally impossible to get in tune ive tried for hours. pleeeease help me. thanks nate
  14. i noticed in the tutorial about stripping with chemicals it was mentioned that it is best done on refinished guitars and it looked like the guitar he did it on, didnt have the clear laquer stuff on (like a brand new guitar) so my question is how can i strip my guitar that wasnt redone, with chemicals? it still has the laquer (i think thats what it is called) clear cover on it. could i just follow the tutorial and not worry about it? nate
