    So I've been looking for this topic because I know its been answered, but I can't find it. What are is the process for dying wood before an oil finish, specifically a black dye? And what type of dye should I use?

    Im looking for some techniques for using oil (especially danish oil) as a finish? Boiled or Cold Press? Natural or Stained Colors? Thinners you like to use? Brands? Wax coat after or no? Like I said, how do you like to do them?

    Does a maple fretboard or neck have to be finish with lacquer or nitro? Or can it be oiled? If I dont finish it with lacquer and decide on oil, what are the downfalls?
