  1. Update. http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/8937/dscn4066u.jpg Played a show with the tele for the first time, it sounded awesome! I should of gone with a normal white pickguard instead of a pearloid The saddles on it are far too sharp to play comfortably, changed my hand placement and it was fine, but want to fix this issue. Anyone have any tips to make the saddle adjustment screws smoother?
  2. Done. Specs: Brass nut (cost a penny!) Dunlop Straplocks (free) YJM Fury neck pickup ($76) Spitfire bridge pickup (stock, but sounds good) Grover tuning machines ($25) Reshaped headstock to a Fender CBS style Rounded off the neck heel Scalloped frets 21 and 22 (maybe more later) Pearloid pickguard ($15) White strings (not pictured) The YJM sounds awesome! (gonna to try and have one in the bridge) thanks to Rob for the awesome Telecaster decal. Need to sand down the baseball neck some more and the razor sharp tele saddles are extremely annoying when playing. Neck pickup is slightly out of alignment with strings. Neck pickguard route went a bit messy. Other than that, not bad for a $60 beater backup guitar.
  3. Sorry for the big pics! Can't seem to edit my posts?
  4. After a lot of sanding, I decided to rest on that and work on the neck. Cleaned up some gunk that it contracted at NAMM  and made the frets shiny. Scalloped the last 2 frets (might do more, but not the entire neck) (not pictured) rounded off the neck heel and sanded down the neck (flatter) Marked the headstock for what needed to be cut and re-shaped, Done I marked off what needed to be sanded off with a SHARPIE! such a dumb mistake :/ Now the wood is stained and I have sanded quite a bit to try and get it off and no real progress. So, I had to change my original plan a bit. Here is a current mock up, still need to do a few more things The sides and back of the headstock will be unfinished, it won't be a pretty sight, but I can live with that I'll update this once I have more updates.
  5. Got this guitar at NAMM, always wanted a telecaster. It's a 6 string though but it's ok(getting a ARZ307 later this year to mod :yesway:) Haven't tackled a project this big since I installed a ZR in my RG560. Played it at NAMM and liked it, heavy body, great frets and nice build. Hated the pee yellow finish, fat neck, headstock and knob configuration. So... modding time  This is what my planned outcome is (without the Fender logo and a few other things) I stripped down the finish and began the process to paint it white. First wave of klean strip paint remover Then lots of sanding... Primer coat layed down
  6. I meant "Odd request" for the title.. lol So I have this weird request (hoping someone can help out) I have this telecaster copy I got recently to mod/experiment, and it has a regular strat-ish style headstock, my plan is to cut a piece of the headstock off and attach another piece of wood and shape the headstock into a Fender CBS style headstock (big version) Does anyone have any extra "headstock" style wood laying around that they would sell me? I would need a 7.5"x3" of maple (preferably as the guitar has a maple neck) regular strat/tele thickness. Does not have to be pretty or finished or anything, I just need it to glue it on and then cut/shape it out. Also, just to clarify, no Fender logo is going on this Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
  7. The main problem on the ZR1 was the tremolo arm assemble, which you can replace with a Schaller arm assembly and avoid it breaking on you. I installed a ZR on my RG550 and it works well and its super stable.
  8. They are great, really hot, yet clear, defined and crisp.
  9. Good job, is your bridge pickup upside down on purpose?
  10. We are just another gimmick/mask wearing band that is tasteless, talentless and taking up space. Not to be confused with Slipknot Mushroomhead GWAR Berzerker (old) Mudvayne (old) Hollywood Undead I know what you mean man, most people think we are a Marilyn Manson tribute band, haha Haha, yeah, I wish we could make it on south park or metalocalypse...
  11. Exactly! Since every member in Slipknot wears trench coats, gas masks and lasers on their head... :D Kidding, This is my band http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1UkEojTLqoE http://www.myspace.com/squirrellyarts
  12. Its ok man, I replaced a lo-pro edge tremolo with a Zero Resistance tremolo, if you look here http://static.keebali.com/jemsite.com/news/edge2003/ The ZR is a completely different route than a Lo-pro. Thats pretty much the point.
  13. People told me I was a fool, still I really wanted this, it was not easy, but being careful measuring 80 times and cutting once really paid off. I still need 1 more part before I can put it all together, but here are some teaser pics while it awaits a full setup. ZR's smooth and fluid diving motions > lo-pro/original edge ANY DAY. For those that don't believe me, here is the same guitar with the lo-pro.
  14. Thanks, if the bridge needs to be moved towards the neck, I have to fill in the bridge pickup cavity and re-route right? What if it needs to be moved away? should I leave the bridge pickup cavity as is?
  15. Specifically this, With a 24 fret Ibanez neck. I know, neck is AANJ, body is standard heel, I will mod the standard heel to fit a AANJ, But the body? I attached the neck to the pocket and 2 holes lined up, so right now, the neck fits exactly where the old neck was, but the new neck is 24 frets. Should I fill the old bridge holes and match up the scale (leaving the pickup routes as is? or Should I just move the neck up/down using the pre-exisiting bridge holes (possible ending up with no neck pick up, but I don't mind) Any help is welcomed.
  16. Oh, well, is the filling in necessary? I'll see once I get it. But thanks for the feedback.
  17. I know the routing is different, but building a new body sounds like more work than just routing/filling. The guitar has been modded a lot anyway, it used to be a RG560 (h/s/s) now its a RG550-560, as I installed a pickguard (h/h) and a lo pro.
  18. I do like the lo-pro edge, my main RG has it and my K-7 too, my proline V has a original edge and I've had other guitars with a edge or lo-pro edge, but after trying out the ZR for a bit, it just topped my list, its so smooth and felt like a feather. I might build a body for it, but first I would like to see if there is a possibility to replace my knife edge tremolos.
  19. I just won a ZR tremolo ($50) and I decided to replace my lo pro edge on my RG550-560. I know some modifications are needed - Bigger trem post hole - Routing for ZPS has anyone attempted this or have any tips? (repost from Jemsite, Ibanez Forums and SS.org)
  20. That is a Destroyer II, which looks better in black,
