1. i never went away, just stopped posting and heres a link to the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAkTC6EpSmQ for those that care edit: “Sound on Sound” effect/long delay pad On the intro on Shine On David is simulating keyboard pad his guitar using a very long delay. The guitar signal travels through a volume pedal (a second pedal used only for the SOS effect) and then into Roland digital delay unit with long repeats at 1500ms (20sec sustained repeats). David strums a chord, lowers the volume pedal and plays a solo fed through the “normal” signal path, while the Sound on Sound pad (the strummed chord) is sustained by the long delay. The pattern is repeated for each chord. only took five years for me to get the answer
2. its not true bypass. and if you use a wah, get ready for it to sound nasal and annoying, seeing as people usually use distortion *after* phase effects, and putting the distortion first in the signal chain (ie inside the guitar) won't sound great with certain effects.
3. the LED will most likely cause popping sounds when you flick the switch
4. putting surgical spirit on your fingertips builds callouses quickly
5. depending on the type of pedal it is you may have trouble swapping the bypass switch for a toggle. its most likely not true-bypass, and most likely uses some form of digital switching.
6. as far as i know you need a reverb tank for the stage center reverb. theres a bunch of tone-stack schematics allover aron nelsons, rg keen etc websites.

8. iirc there was a certain brand of shoe polish that everyone ranted about a few years ago for yellowing pickguards. search is probably your best bet.
9. and heres the link to the above project.... http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/index....3&Itemid=26 or you could buy a kit from here: http://www.buildyourownclone.com/phaser.html
10. www.runoffgroove.com - look for the ruby and the little gem or the noisy cricket ( http://www.beavisaudio.com/ ) i think any 386 based mini amp should do the trick, cos they're stupidly small and not too difficult to get working.
11. And whys that such a bad thing? at least there are valid points, unlike some post bumping with just smilies or a three word comment. this way when people search for "sustain" they get some useful information....and thats good considering that people are always going psycho at newbs who don't search!
12. its the cover from Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs by Derek And The Dominos jeez..and i'm only 20!
13. if you love it, why do you want to mod it?
14. copper clad board + ferric chloride + transfer sheets VS one piece of stripboard. ok, so maybe not easier...but definately cheaper...and if you find out that you suck at making pedals then you're not left with random chemicals etc.
15. for your first, rather than making your own PCB, stripboard may be an easier option. http://aronnelson.com/gallery (some of them are better than others) http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?board=6.0 thats quite good too, aimed at beginners.
16. please tell me there's gonna be blue LEDs to light up that clear front?
17. i have an 80w valvestate marshall in the attic...but for some reason i can't help but play through my 10w squier amp...it just seems to get the tone that i actually want very easily. *awaits onslaught from tone-freaks*
18. in hindsight, its probably at 0% one of the two coils in the 'bucker, and at 100% its both of them. coherant thought isn't at its best when i've been finishing work at midnight
19. oo, tempting...but i've got 15 guitars in all, and can't bear to part with any of my babies
20. afaik its on the yamaha sgv's (the really ugly ones) its like a blend control between the two coils of the 'bucker, on mine its got a ''notch'' at the centre...so at 0% its one coil, 50% its both, and 100% its the other coil.
21. i think (not 100% sure) that if you play with power switching before the 'out signal' then you'll get problems with pops when you turn the effect on and off. replacing the output jack with a stereo is the STANDARD way to do this.
22. you put the stereo jack in place of the mono one thats the output of your guitar at the moment. so in its simplest form it would be: pickups->guitar controls->fuzzface->output if you use a few different pedals then its worth seeing what they all sound like with a fuzz before them..... it wasn't until after i installed a booster in one of my guitars that i realised that boosters need to be AFTER wahs
