  1. I am about to fit a pickguard black teardrop shape to a Takamine EG560C acoustic. The pickguard comes with adhesive back, my question is any tips on fitting and can they be removed later without damaging the finish of the guitar
  2. Does anybody know if guitar armor the company who sold the clear stick on pickguard material are still in business. I am about to get a new guitar without pickguard and i was interested in putting something on to protect the finish for pick marks etc. I also didnt want to stick a pickguard on as that was too permanent. The guitar armor peels off easily and doesnt leave any glue behind, anybody know where i can get it and will ship to the UK
  3. Well my colour coat is good and i have used 1500 wet to get it smooth so i can spray the clear lacquer. Is it possible to have the base colour too smooth prior to the clear coat im not sure if i did right doing the 1500 to the base colour but i wanted it smooth and i dint want to take too much colour off !! So will i still be ok with the clear or does it need a scuffed base better ??
  4. When i apply the first coats of laquer to my painted headstock will the fine marks made by the 1500 grit wet and dry still show or should i polish the paint with 0000 wire wool and then apply the coats of laquer. I dont want to take too much off the headstock paint as its a fine flat finish but the wet and dry marks are still there. Im a bit unsure if the paint finish before the laquer should be showing no signs of 1500 cutting back or when the laquer goes on will they dissapear ?? It was very hard doing the paint as i had to mask off the edges to leave a fine edge not painted ( like a border ) and i had to rub it down slightly with 1500 grit to flatten the paint edges after taking off the masking tape. Please help !!
  5. The wood isnt damaged only the reddish wood stain is rubbed down to bare wood. Can i touch it up and blend it in ??
  6. I am working on a Simon & Patrick acoustic guitar and the underside of the neck has a small scuff mark down to the wood. Is there an easy way to make this good without a complete re-finish Im happy to put some laquer on after but i need to colour the mark first ??
  7. How long after i have sprayed (car aerosol ) my headstock can i apply the clear laquer ?? IM happy with the final colour coat do i need to rub it down with 1500 grit because i need to add laquer so is there any need to rub down ? I plan to add a decal to the headstock before i laquer this will be a vinyl one. After applying the decal and the clear coats do i still rub back with say 1500 grit and then buff. Can you get satin finish or matt clear finish as ive only seen gloss ?? Any help would much appreciated
  8. I have a fairly new acoustic guitar that on removal of the old nut and fitting of a new nut the black headstock paint was damaged down to the base wood colour. Now here is my dilema do i touch up the damaged area which has the problem of matching it in to the rest of the headstock or do i re-paint the complete headstock in black and then purchase some gold decals for the guitar brand and fit them. I would prefer to to repair the damage ( about 1/2" area ) but is it possible to do this and blend it in to the headstock original paint or will it look a mess and the only proper way is to re-paint the complete headstock.
