  1. Hey, I searched those terms but didn't find anything sorry. The frets on my 1 year old Ibanez JEM7VWH are popping out, what could be the cause of this and how do I fix it? Also, the 'Fret Level and Crown' tutorial by Steven Kersting isn't working, are there any other fret level/crown tutorials anyone knows of? Thanks
  2. Hi, I have this old SX strat neck laying around and was bored so took to the last fret with a file since I was gonna scallop it anyway just didn't have a dremel yet (still don't) and the inlay fell out. I had cream inlays and am fond of abalone for everything so I bought some abalone inlays. Now I was wondering if I should scallop the whole board, glue the inlays and then go over the inlays so that they match the scallop? Or should I inlay first? How would I get the original inlays out (dot inlays). Should I put these inlays a little deeper since I'm scalloping? Thanks, Cozi
  3. Is there any alternative I can use to the Dremel Contour sander that will get me the same/close to results?
  4. Hi, I just taped off my frets with masking tape twice like shown in the Full fretboard Scallop Tutorial. I just noticed it could be a very long time till I get around to doing it (2 months+) and was wondering if the adhesive of the tape could do anything to ruin my frets? Or the wood on the side of each fret where the "V" parts of the tape are stuck too? Thanks
  5. Hey, I just wanted to remove the nut form this guitar and I just start chipping it off but now I've reached a point where the glue is jsut too strong, how should I finish off the job? Thanks
  6. Is it a problem if I use an old neckplate as a shim like so: http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a343/Cozi101/fee8ea5c.jpg
  7. Nothing really, it's a good neck, not great. I just like carvin better and my neck is kinda beat up.
  8. Hi, I have a $200 SX strat copy guitar that I am fixing up (infact I only kept the body and bought every other part possible). http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a343/Coz...inbefore016.jpg Now, I want to get a new neck and I think I'm going to get a Carvin BN bolt on neck. http://www.carvin.com/products/single.php?...er=BN&CID=GTR/K Now it's perfect except for the pocket dimensions are just a tiny tiny bit off. The Carvin has 2-3/16" x 5/8" x 3" and I have 2-3/16" x 3/4"(23/32" to be exact" x 3" (might scrape for 3-1/32). The neck I have is 21 frets and the neck I'm getting is 22 frets. Now will I have to add a 1/16 shim or extra wood to the neck pocket to lift it up? Will it be fine with nothing or will it be impossible to do? I found these Warmoth dimensions which I think are the same as the Carvin neck. http://www.warmoth.com/guitar/necks/necks....fuseaction=faq2 In that it says the heel is 1" which is the same as mine but the frerboard says .25" and mine is only 3/16. I measured the fretboard on my JEM7VWH and it has 3/16 aswell. So the question is can this neck be put on my guitar?
  9. Ma bad, the noob who asks the same question 1000 other people have. Thanks Duff
  10. Hey people, I'm new to this forum and I have a question about finishing a guitar. A mod at the vai.com forums told me you guys are very smart and could probably answer my question in a tick. I am wanting to do a guitar in a purple finish, just as normal as it gets but I'm only 15 and have no clue on finishing a guitar and have never done it and have pretty much never painted anything in my life. I know nothing. I was wondering what steps I need to take and what things I will need. It' a Basswood body. Here's the guitar I'm makin
