  1. NotYou, To give you a little background on me, I have been in marketing, pricing and business strategy for about 20 years now. I come on this site because I am in awe of what you all can do. So if my business experience can benefit any of you I'd be happy to give back after all I learn from you. "I've been with Destroy All Guitars for a few years now and they've been great to me. I haven't even looked around at other dealers or anything like that because I haven't seen a reason too." I would suggest the reason to look for other dealers is to increase demand for your product/brand. As demand increases and supply stays constant price goes up. If I owned Destroy All Guitars I would love to have a product that drove people in the door - as long as you are not supplying it to my immediate competition. I think it is great that you recognize the need to have someone assist in areas you have little interest or experience in. However, there still needs to be someone steering the ship and deciding on strategy. Most people get very confused on the difference between tactics and strategy. Few products have ever made it big without effective marketing. Many products have been hugely successful because of marketing i.e. The Pet Rock. If you would like to talk specifics I'd be glad to help.
  2. That is one first rate project! I am actually going to send you some adoption papers so you can adopt me and I can get one for my birthday. Well done.
  3. This is an issue I have supported for a long time. I still vote for placing a time limit from their initial registry to their first post. Spammers are not going to care enough to set up an account and wait 24 hrs before posting. I am willing to help out in any way I can. It is downright embarrassing to open up this forum in front of my wife and have it be more about porn than guitars. If I was not already converted to PG and was looking for my first time I would never return.
  4. I have done upholstery for 6+ years and sadly enough know a little about foam. If I were to make a case I would follow this method with one or two changes. I would line the case with 1/4" of closed-cell foam(this is the foam that is under a vinyl top) it is very dense. I may even put a minimal amount of softer foam in places like the top. I would steer clear of carpet because it is more abrasive than your fur would be. That is just my two cents.
  5. Great work as always. It is nice to see someone helping others.
  6. This is a link that shows a jig Setch made. I am going to make one myself. http://www.setchellguitars.co.uk/ant/ant/b...ve_with_jig.jpg
  7. I have seen people clamp a straight edge to the board to act as a guide for a router. The then trim up the end with the router. The end result turned out very nice. Hope that helps. Good luck.
  8. I agree with Crazy Man Andy. Not to be rude. I am a marketer so I know takes a lot of money and time to market products. The world if full of examples of inferior products killing superior products. Classic example is VHS and Beta video cassettes. Sony did a good job of making there VHS systems to the general public faster and convincing us they were better, but theaters use Beta because it is better quality. To respond to the above comment about "recycled junk" maybe you have heard about the guy who marketed The Pet Rock. Common garden rocks that he named and put in clever packaging. The public thought they were great. I would encourage you to continue to be unique. Appeal to a niche and forget the rest. Best of luck, Brodie
  9. You could sandblast a body to give it an aged, weathered look; but not to make it smooth. Sandblasting on wood eats away the softer fibers and leaves the harder ones protruding making the wood look older and grainier. It may be a cool look, but it wouldn't be smooth.
  10. Sorry to hear that. I pray all works out for the best.
  11. I am getting ready to order some finishing supplies and have been intrigued by Rustins. However I want my guitar to be an Alpine White. I have read that Rustins is not to be used in conjunction with paint, so my only hope is that the white they supply is the pigment I want (right?). Let me know if they are the same or if I should consider different finishing options. Thanks, Brodie
  12. I'm just curious, how sturdy is it?
  13. I have worked at a shop where we used these to spray contact cement. I'm sure contact cement is harder to spray than regular paint so take this info for what it is worth. We bought about a dozen of them. Three were perfect, shot well and laid down a good pattern. Some were ok, and others were garbage. That being said Harbor Frieght does allow you to exchange the tool if you are not happy. So my advice is buy one and if it doesn't work trade it for anohter.
