  1. So, I put 2 coats and I'll put the last one tomorrow. It works well with the 000 steel wood. Here is my last question about the work : Do I have to sand after the last coat ? Do I have to wait during 4-5 weeks after the last coat before playing with the neck ? Duby
  2. I don't know if I will polish after. Actually, I don't know how to polish !! I'll try to find 0000 steel wood tomorrow. I hope I will find some. Otherwise, I'll use the 000 used gently and smoothly. If I understand well, I should wait during 4-5 weeks before using again the neck. Duby
  3. I'm just refinishing the fingerboard. The guitar is a Jem 77 Bfp.
  4. I've got 000 steel wood. Is it good ? How many time must I wait between coat ? on the pot, it is writen that the next coat should be put between 12 and 24 h, but i don't know if this is always true for guitar fingerboard. Again, many thanks
  5. Hi, I've just put the first coat of polyuethane on my maple fingerboard. My question is : Should I sand the neck before the sedond coat ? If yes, can I us 1200 grit paper ? How many coat should I put ? 2 or 3 ? Thanks you !! CIAO CIAO Duby
  6. Okay, But actually i try to clean the fingerboard but unfortunately I couldnt clean it perfectly and I'm not sur if i can clean more without damaged it ? I don't want to make big error and damaged the inlay for instance. Do you think I shoud rob until there is no more dust ?
  7. here is a picture of the neck http://homepages.ulb.ac.be/~gduby/guitare/neck.gif
  8. Hi, I've got a Jem 77 BFP and, as you know, the fingerboard is in mapple. It is very dirty. I cleaned it with lighter fluid and I rubbed gently it with 0000 grade steel. The matter is that some finishing of the fretboard has gone (actually, it was the case before I cleaned it). So if I play again with the guitar, the fingerboard will be dirty quickly. Therefore, my question is How can I put some oil or refinish the fretboard to protect it again against dirt ? Any informtation will be great, Many thanks Cheers
  9. sorry i've forgotten tho say that on the page http://www.robinguitars.com/vintage_pics.htm You should click on page catalog 1983 and then click on the fourth image. on the image, you'll see the octave guitare
  10. I know that robin guitar did one see http://www.robinguitars.com/vintage_pics.htm My aim is the have something similar. But taking very light string is not stupid I'll try
  11. Hello, I want to buy a soprano electric guitar (i.e. a guitar tuned one octave up). Since no firm build this kind o f thinks, I've decided to build it myself. My questions are the following : - Can we just change the neck of an ordinary guitar ? - If yes, Who build soprano neck ? Thanks !!
  12. Hi, I have an Ibanez SC 620 and I would like to convert it to a fretless guitar. I've got some questions about this conversion. 1- Can we do that ? (This is the most important question ) 2- Should I change all my fingerboard ? 3- Should I change the pickup or other stuff of my guitar ? 4- Can we replace frets by a white line (more easy to find the good notes ) 5- Is it expensive ? Is it hard to do ? Finally, If you have already done this transformation perhaps you could let your experience here. Many thanks CIAO CIAO
  13. Thanks for your answer !! I don't want to soud too low, heavy and with the tuning D G C F Bb D G when I put my finger for a C (like in usual tuning) the pith is Eb like some saxophone !!! So If i want to jam I only need to read the chord of the Eb-instrument and not transpose all the way. Actually, in the beginning I wanted just to transpose my guitar but with a 7 string I will keep all the bass.
  14. Hi !! I will buy a 7 string but before I want to know if it is possible to tune the guitar in D G C F Bb D G (a minor third higher) ? To get this tuning should I use a special neck : a kind of "soprano neck" or may I do that with a regular neck ?? Many thanks for your answers !!! CIAO CIAO
