  1. this guitar totally works now so I wired the pots backwards, wanna fight about it? and my selector switch is backwards too but I can live with that for a while.
  2. ok so i did all that, and the noise went away. but now no sound grrrr. im gonna punch this guitar
  3. so i should disconnect the wire I have from the output jack to trem claw (spring holder thing haha) then solder it to the back of the volume pot, then add another wire to the volume pot and ground that to the trem claw? and also add a wire to the tone pot ground and run it to the back of the tone pot? also do all wires on the back of the volume pot have to be soldered to one point or can they be soldered seperately? thanks
  4. Ok so I wired a guitar with some seymore duncan SH-6 pickups with 1 vol., 1 tone and a 3 way switch. I followed this diagram Seymore Duncan Diagram now the problem I have is when I plug in my guitar it just hums and whenever i touch the pickups or pots (without knobs) it just hums louder. without picking up much string vibration. (i intstalled just one string) could this be a grounding problem? I've got both pickups ground to the back of the volume pot and the output jack ground to the spring holder thing. any help?
  5. I finished clear coating my guitar body on sat 1/21 now on tues 1/24 i set the body on a guitar stand for about an hour and when I took it off there were marks left from the stand. I can sand out these marks before polishing if it hardens. Should the clearcoat still be this soft after this amount of time? how long does laquer take to fully cure? where is the best place to leave a body to let it cure? here is what i used Rustoleum Clear Lacquer thanks in advance
  6. thanks i think i'll wire the capacitor to one pot so they dont have to be so close together. Can i ground the green and bare wires to the back of a pot?
  7. Hi Im rewiring an old guitar with new pickups, pots, 3 way switch, and output jack. I have the duncan mayhem SH-6n, SH-6b distortion set. After looking at 2 different wiring scematics I noticed that both have the capacitor wired differently. Seymore duncan wiring scematics has the capacitor soldered to both volume and tone pots. Basic wiring diagrams (and my ibanez that I looked at to see how it was wired(doesn't have seymore duncan pups) have the capacitor soldered to the tone pot only. Why is this? here are links to the scematics Seymore Scematics Generic Scematics also where does the output jack get grounded to? (for that matter im not sure where most grounds go) this is sort of a prebuild, so i can learn how to wire and finish a body before i start my first actual guitar build
