  1. Once upon a time in a magical time known as the 70s... Gibson decided to rip off the Strat! They made the S1 as a 3 single-coil pickup Les Paul with a Flying V neck. It sold for about 3 years, but no one bought them, but only now are most people starting to like the funky sounds that come out of the thing (i.e. a bridge position that was so trebly, it made a tele sound like a jazz box ) Anyways, for my new project guitar, I've decided to take an old really in bad shape strat and wire it like an s1, sounds like fun, eh? If anyone can help me track down a wiring schematic for the s1, it'd really be appreciated.
  2. i just love 9ths, especially minor 9ths, lol don't know why they can be exchanged wif 7ths and vice versa pretty much wif out anyone noticin my fav is the a minor 9th (i think thats the name... i dont remember anymore, lol ) at the fifth fret e|0 B|0 G|5 D|5 A|0 E|0
  3. thanks, im getting some good ideas out of this, its really appreciated
  4. sorry bout that, i was in a foul mood because a virus just hit my comp and i lost about half of my hardrive, including an english assignment i had been working on for weeks didn't realize that you meant buying a body to put the pickups in, and it would be a bit tricky because the pickups i have are prototype humbuckers from gibson (or so claims the guy at my local repair shop) and they're about the size of a soapbar, bit bigger though it shouldnt be to hard to do, thanks for the idea
  5. eugh, don't you pay attention?! the point isnt the jazz box, it's using the kick ass pickups in my horid guitar besides, i'm not really an ibanez fan, but don't say anything about that cuz then your gonna turn this into "im a shmuck for hating ibanez" thing, then people will call me a n00b looking for attention by saying a major brand sucks and i really don't want that
  6. good idea, i think ill start lookin around, but what im hoping for is one at a garage sale for a few bucks
  7. Hey, recently I came into posession of a cool custom solid body from the 60s. The electronics and the body are awful, and the neck is warped, but the pickups were absolutely amazing. I've been wondering what to do with them and since I've loved jazz for such a long time but can't afford a jazz box, im thinking of taking an acoustic, rebuilding to top to have f-holes and put the pickups in there. I've been building guitars and basses for awhile, so skill isn't really an issue. Just wondering what other people say about this, if you think im nuts and there's no way that this thing can work, feel free to say so. If you choose to be negative, at least give a reason though. On the contrary, if you don't think im insane for trying this, if anyone could give me some advice on removing the top of the acoustic, or if anyone could name a decent, cheap acoustic (hey, I don't want to waste my money if i screw up, it's happened before), I'd love it if you'd tell me. Thanks for any input you have, and this'll also be posted in hollow-body, so you might want to check there for other responses. Thanks in advance, Dave

  9. i don't really build a lot of guitars, but ive gotten myself quite a reputation as a finisher of them... whenever my friends are making a guitar, they come to me to do the finishing i feel so special well, i guess what im trying to say is that i got into it because i wanted something to paint without being constricted by normality oh, and in case your wondering, yes, i'm eccentric
  10. hmm, that sounds like something my brother would want me to do with one of his guitars, im not a "pink" person, so id prolly use some really gaudy looking metalic paint or really bright flourescent yellow! this topic's gettin some good ideas goin now!
  11. Get a Paasche H model airbrush, around $45 and a great beginner airbrush Paasche H thanks, i'll look into that, though i think my project guitar has been put on hold for a bit as i just bought a sax. guitars and saxes are both great, and i had been neglecting my sax playing for a bit, but soon ill be back makin guitars, lol
  12. that's pretty nice, but it lacks a certain flamboyence I'm looking for in my guitar. it really needs to stand out
  13. Whoa, nice idea man, so far I think I'll go wif that
  14. well, i screwed up pretty big while writing this because I also forgot to mention that the burst is transparent too
  15. well, I don't really want to but I may not be able to do another project guitar in quite awhile, and the opaque ones are pretty cool lookin too o, and forgot to mention, union jack is transparent finish... oops thanks for everyones contributions so far
