  1. right on. that pickup cleans up nicely. were you recording with a mic or does the mustang go out usb or something? sounded like an 'in the room' sound. I have a buddy who plays out w a fairly professional band that swears by the katana... he gets decent sounds out of it. anywho, nice guitar!
  2. watching now... guitar looks great. sounds good. has some nice clean sounds out of that bridge. must be underwound a bit? sounds nice with a bit of gain. some nice noodling. inlay looks fantastic - great job all around.
  3. was thinking "why in the world did he finish binding the whole thing if it was short"... then saw your recovery. nicely done. cudos.
  4. fwiw op... I've got a number of necks that only have tru oil. Musicman uses a dip in tru oil... lots of other guitar mfg use tru oil for the neck and while it doesn't have quite the seal that poly or nitro might... good enough for them/me. I too have used nitro over tru oil (sweet spot blonde). seems to work fine for me. Even if the neck gets dirty after a while... it'd be pretty easy to clean it up and apply more tru oil. just a thought.
  5. damn... if I can get past you putting your crotch in my face I'll try to watch this thing a lil later! bam! crotch to the face! guitar looks beautiful tho... really nice.
  6. fair enough... but don't say I didn't believe in you. Perhaps you could elaborate (if you don't mind) on how you know when to proceed from one grit to the next? do you just have a 'feel' for how much to do, or do you stop and look for scratches, or do you get to the end grit... see some scratches, and go back a couple grits?
  7. that is "mirror like" but then all your finishes are so... I prefer to see you get that mirror shine using only your saliva. (I think you could do it)
  8. if the spots where that epoxy sits over the burl are any indicator... man this thing is going to have a beautiful look. that second piece too... the figure is crazy. nice work.
  9. looking good. that birdseye is really going to suit the rick styling of that guitar.
  10. I'm guessing that's a jam washer style but admittedly it's closer than I thought. Used to seeing the well rounded 'tub' style.
  11. pretty sure "reminiscent to the early model" is an extremely liberal use of that phrase. Judges? that said they are cool looking... might have to try one some time.
  12. wow, never seen those. question is... who's pleasure are they for?
  13. "tele cup with the jam washer" - you mean these or an actual ribbed insert? I've never seen that...
  14. Surprisingly the jem doesn't have any issues going on a guitar strand... that is the closest to setting it down I ever come! the tele cups are nice... if you were gonna go that route I'd def go for an electrosocket. esp since mounting the typical tele cup with the jam washer might be a pain. then again the electrosocket has to screw into something. hopefully you'd have enough room for either going in from the top... you might want to check that because the jack itself is 3/4", plus the cup which is somewhere around 3/4". I guess in a les paul you should have enough room... but then the 1/4" plug will stick out beyond the end of the 1/4" jack so... you'll have to do some measuring to make sure.
  15. (going to let that ask air out as I don't have experience in that topic but many here do)
  16. you might consider doing a google search on "jack on back of guitar" to get some ideas of how you'd work that out... on the jem... it's on the side but dif than typical... works rather well for me...
  17. right on Brum... I think you'll be fine. When/if you do run into problems... reach out and you'll get the help you need. With resources like some of the veterans we have here... you can't possibly go wrong! (Ask me how I know)
  18. well, you know how we do over here... fast food coupled with lots of hard labor (iow we don't just sit around in saunas all day! haha! just kidding of course)
  19. could totally work. If I was going to do that... then I would DEF go for the strat jack. just cut a hole and voilla. you would have to check it to ensure it didn't bump into anything on the inside, and if you take off your rear cover youd either have to be able to remove the wires on the jack quickly (could be done with simple auto industry quick connectors) or otherwise leave them connected. could be done... and it'd be kinda cool.
