  1. i was more worried about the buzzing being pickup through my amp.. but i managed to fix it thanks.
  2. well i use a light guage string set and prefer it fairly close to the frets... but i'll give it a try.
  3. My ESP has just started giving me some string slap on the first and second fret. Normaly i'd adjust the trussrod to this, but the neck isn;t doing any kinda of ski slope shape... So i'm assuming that the adjustment of the Floydrose will help it... Thing is, i'm not sure what is an aptimal hight for the floydrose. Does anyone know the preferred hight or how many times the adjustment screws should be turned?
  4. all in all... simple doesn;t exsist as it seems. but how well, i'll just have to wait another day to make one.
  5. if only this was a perfect world...
  6. I'm looking for the simplest delay effect diagram and part list... like i'm talking so simple that a PCB board isn't necessary for the build. If you have anything that can help me, please hurry, i'm making an order tonight so i want to put something else with it such as parts for a simple effect like a delay.
  7. Yea... I just find theres just about everything about guitars around here so yea.
  8. All this former talk about wiring up guitars has got be curious... Anybody know if i could possible do any interesting wiring job to my LTD M-100FM? I have a neck and bridge EMG H4 humbuker pickups... i'm jsut look go see if there is anything cool i could do.
  9. AGREED!!! Well thanks for the help... But u didn;t awnser my resistor quetion.
  10. that cascade surplus had everything more evenly sorted for me... and the pictures of the items helped too. One thing though... i allready had all my resistors, but i need one more.. 1k 1/4 watt... they had everything but... the nearest one to it was a 1.2k 1/4 watt. i have no idea if thats a big differeance or not, so let me know.
  11. none taken... i've built alout of things before... i jsut never had to go buy my parts. I'm a machinist not an electrition, so this is just a try out hobbie. and yes it does, that was my point i made. but there are so many different damn type of them i'm not sure what is more suited for this pedal. Frankly it's a pain in the ass for me. And cut me some slack, i want to build this, i can do it because i;ve done harder things, just i have little clue on what parts i'm trying to buy.
  12. Allright i'll be blunt... i need parts for this effects pedal. http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/pdf/ggg_thunderchief.pdf I had ordered there PCB board from them for like 12 bucks.. not bad i figured... But i can;t seem to find myself getting the right parts. Even mouser just has to many options for me to fallow... If you can help me out then i'd be so damn grateful.
  13. mouser was just a pain in the ass for me, like it has everything, but it was hard to know if i was ordering the right item, expecialy since i'm not 100% sure on all the details of what i need.
  14. thats not to bad. almost to what i've been looking for... right now i'm more concerned about getting supplies... I wish there was a site that i can buy an entire kit of parts, may not come with the PCB board but hell if i can get all the parts in one package cheep... that would be awesome
  15. lol... so much for effects pedals... I'm pretty sure u can get that at the gibson website if u haven't checked. I haven;t yet so no promises
  16. Ok, time for me to explain my pain in the ass. I've finaly figured out most of what i would need to know to make my own effect pedals. I even went as far as experimenting with my own PCB circuts. But heres the kicker. I live in canada, do get the parts i need to build my pedals, i have to order them from teh states or anywhere else. not that this is a problem, just i have to then pay a shipping currrancy exchange and what other bullshit they decide to bill me, and if somethings wrong it;s even more of a pain in the ass to have it corrected. Sadly i just want to know if there is a GOOD canadian supplier that is VERY user friendly for electronic parts. i guess i could of asked that from the begining but hell, it gave you something to read, how entertaining.
  17. no no don;t get me wrong... i have a great router... just my tooling wasn;t good enough. I'm just trying to find out what i can do untill i manage to get ahold of a new bit for the router. But there is one thing that is bothering me. Like i can understand how the routing is done, i just want to be able to see whats going on before hand. Does anyone have a picture of someone routing out there pickups? in any method of course.
  18. I've had a hell of a time doing my pickups and routing out my bridge for my floyd rose on my V project... and not to mention my neck slot... The most frustrating part was is that i don;t have a bearing bit for my router, so as u can imagin fallowing a line was not as easy as it seems... Since i'm not sure when i'll get ahold of one, does anyone have any tips for doing all my routering without a bearing?
  19. i agree.. u don;t find much explainitory instructions when building these effects.
  20. ok man relax... didn;t know.. just thought it be something kool to see, obviously someone did it before me. no need to explode
  21. Well, i've found out first hand that building a guitar without a template, that or the proper tooling... can be well difficult. So i'd like to get some of the more experianced builders involved in this thread by posting pictures and tips on jigs of there own builds to help out the builders who are just begining. Autocad drawnings, dimensioned pictures, or just simple instructions would be great. Lets see how many tips, jigs and templates we can come up with.
  22. yea thanks, i found that out before u posted...lol
  23. I've been building a flying v guitar body... i've cut out all my pickup and bridge pockets. But i forgot the depth for the backside of the bridge. I'm using a floyd rose bridge. If anyone knows the depth of the backside pocket where the springs are placed, please let me know asap.
  24. I made an adjustment to my V Body on autocad. I didn;t like how the voume, tone, and pickup controls were placed on top, i think this will look a whole lot more original and nicer. tell me what you think.
