  1. the 2000 isnt the same brand, but i forgot to use it to start with and hadnt used it on that area yet when i noticed it. the compound is farecla g3 - the same as i have always used. i also use farecla swirl remover. the other two guitars are mahogany and this one is alder, thats the only difference. i sprayed a couple of sealer coats before adding the colour. i did some of the polishing on it yesterday - just concentrating on one part to see how good i could get it before doing it all today and i didnt notice it yesterday. its like its appeared over night
  2. this guitar was sprayed a couple of weeks ago along with two others, neither of which shows the same problem. its only when i've been finish sanding with 2000, then polishing with compound that i've come to notice these strange marks. i always spray/polish the same way and have never seen this before. it kind of looks like mould under the finish. it only occurs on the shoulder as seen here, and there are one or two on the tummy cut area as well. anyone know what it is? or what i can do short of refinishing?
  3. to be fair, it is only hull people who say praad and turn the laaat on and so on
  4. "praad" is hull speak. im from wakefield, its still "pride" hehe
  5. yes the flat side should be on top. its looking really good so far!
  6. heres one trying to show the metallic finish - its hard to capture!

  8. finally after many trials and tribulations
  9. i was only messing. how many really original ideas are there anyway. not too many!
  10. oops - i forgot to update it on here. i got it done AGAIN. just waiting for it to cure ready for polishing. here it is with the burst on - which is NOT that dark in real life - in sunlight it almost disappears and heres a close up showing the metallic nature of the finish - i mixed some left over metallic red into clear for the transparent coats
  11. because we havent seen that before *cough cough* hehe looks good so far
  12. the back is nice and shiny. but its coming off. which is a bastard. the reason its taken so long to get to this point is this: when i came to put the final few coats on i had run out of clear coat. when i went to get some more, the place i get it from wasnt stocking what i used to get anymore, so i got what they had. its the same stuff, just made by a different company. so shock horror it reacted. not much, but enough, it was like tiny tiny crazing. when it was cured i flatted it off and it went away, only to come back again when i polished it up. iv been flatting and polishing and flatting and polishing and its still there. you cant really see it but you can see what look like pores coming through in this pic, but thats the crazing its not easy to see in the pics, and from a distance it looks nice. but as soon as you get it in the light its all you can see. so unfortunately its coming off. but, better to go through this and have it look perfect than leave it as it is
  13. Baby Holly 20" scale length, Nashville tuning Body - 40 year old fireplace mantelpiece with mahogany inserts and flamed maple top Neck - Maple with rosewood fretboard gold wilkinson hardware with vintage style tele pickup, master volume and tone
  14. my little baby sing so sweetly! wilkinson ez lock tuners are good too. obviously as soon as i get it finished the clouds come over and the rain starts. will try to get good pics when the sun comes back out. whenever that will be!
  15. i only got the top finished off. i got impatient. and then too hot. should get the rest of it done tomorrow
  16. so thats why the fretboard is a different colour on the frets with inlays. it was puzzling me hehe
  17. needs a bit more orangey colour on the headstock but otherwise
  18. finally got the bridge so could drill all the holes and route for the pickup. its so much easier when your drill press can reach all the holes.
  19. the neck is being glued in now, and will be carved into the heel so its nice and smooth. the body back will be bursted, so do i tape the neck off and leave it natural or burst the neck as well?
  20. maybe not in american english, but in english english it does unless you're referring to computers. so there hehe
  21. yeah thats how it works. the tuners are always on the same level
