  1. What paint should I use so I don't have to refinish and just paint over gloss? I've been hearing 1 shot sign paint is good to use. Could I use acrylic primer paint or something?
  2. I was wondering if i could do a binding job without having to refinish everything. Is it possible? I was also thinking of being cheaper and just spraying a binding on. An even worse step would be to get cream line tape and use that around the body. Does anyone know where i can get some? I was hoping to save the excess money for EMG 81s. From this (Schecter Omen 6)- To this (Schecter C-1 Blackjack) - Sorry about the large images.
  3. Fookgub - i built the body but bought the neck because i didnt have the equipment for that. i used a matt black car paint. not many coats thats why it scratches. thanks for the 2 votes!! YAY lol guess im gunna have to wait a few more years to get GOTM. cant compete with all the pros 4 days left.. VOTE FIEND! lol only bad thing i hate about it is i cant swing it around.
  4. Is there any tube powered pedals out that boost the sound while still staying clean?? I need more sound out of my Epi VJ head whilst staying clean.
  5. the thing is if i buy stuff from america that seems cheap there, it really works out to be quite alot here due to shipping and conversion. shipping is usually 100$US ive checked out the models that mickguard explained and they are way off my budget. the eastwood hi flyers reviews were great on harmony central. theyve released a sidejack deluxe which is supposed to be better because of the burns trem but from the majority of reviews, ive heard the trems just crap, but a solid guitar. i dont really want the dano anymore. it was more for just the looks. i dont want a vintage guitar becuse there is too much work needed to fix it up. i was thinking of a epi dot but its a bit pricey. i could save for it but that just means ill have to wait even longer for my epi VJ head and cab.
  6. im going to use this guitar to play mostly surf and rockabilly. all good quality guitars (not so much jag) Jagmaster +tremolo +easily bought -have to replace items Eastwood Hi flyer +MOSRITE type! +vg reviews +free ship -no trem (expensive to add on) 59 Dano +great looks +upgraded features +selling out quick -no reviews (release in spring) -have to wait -no trem
  7. Is there anyway to change a stop tail piece to a tremolo? maybe a bigsby? all this without having to refinish ive seen the stetsbar and the kahler. i dont want anything big and ugly like those.
  8. Fiend Double Locking Jackson LFR Gotoh Tuners Jackson JS30 Humbuckers Rosewood Fretboard Plywood body! (only the best) First project LOL IF I WIN ROFLMAO IF I GET VOTES Made with only the most professional tools BTW: 1st build
  9. where can i find dimensions, templates, blueprints to make an amp cab. ive tried google with no luck. im looking for a 57 twin cab.
  10. ive been to most ibanez sites and i cant seem to find it. i dont think it was documented. since it was 60s, it may have been a copy of some sort. it was probly still running under the other name. it was around the time ibanez was bought. ive found a nearly the same one on ebay. the only difference is the tailpiece. http://cgi.ebay.com/1964-SEMI-HOLLOWBODY-v...1QQcmdZViewItem could this be a good quality rare ibanez find or just some cheap copy?
  11. all it says is a 60s ibanez thinline hollow body. i need information about it like now since it is in auction.
  12. thanks for the advice. the its this behringer amp: http://www.behringer.com/AC108/index.cfm?lang=ENG i want to try and make a simple 57 twin using the module out of the behringer. it will be too complicated for my level to add reverb and the liking so ill keep it simple. im just not sure if the tube amp has enough power to have 2 x 12" speakers in it. max volts i can use in the australian outlets is 240. ive read a little on tube amps and found out there is alot of preperationd, hazards and maintenece involved.
  13. I think i may buy a behringer tube amp but i want to get ass much power out of it as it can pump out. it is rated 15w with 8" speaker. can i change the speaker and somehow change the wattage? im fairly new to this.
  14. those are all very good ideas but do not quite have enough work involved. ive found all the electronics i need atm. i think i might stick with the amp idea. ive found the control unit, main chip, remote reverb control, a chip that somehow can 4x the power of the speaker using the same current and voltage but sorta havent found the power supply. most other people are doing r/c things e.g. cars. somebody is already doing a multi effects pedal so i wont be able to do it. only for the sheer fact that everyones has to be different. ive thought of making a car with air suspension but it seemed too complicated controlling it. PS: i forgot to mention that we just buy the circuits, assemble, then make the rest by hand. thats why some people are just buying r/c cars and making thier own chassis
  15. basicall you build anything electrical and mechanical that has some sort of control to it. you get taught about electronics like circuit boards. first we are reasearching on what to do and ask questions about how are we going to go about doing it. i thought id ask the questions here because it is more relative and people may have done this already.
  16. im new to electronics and dont know how i would go about converting the amps 240v output into 12v. what would be the max speaker wattage could i use? some other dude in my class is building guitar pedals and the teacher said it was ok to do. the project has to have a type of control to it. e.g. r/c car (what most people are doing). the wah expression pedal is the mechanical control to this. thats if i use it in the guitar. i thought of maybe making controls on my guitar that wirelessly control the amp somehow. but that seems expensive. would it be hard to do?
  17. cant do tubes. way to expensive here. i didnt realise there was a mechanical part so i just did that. what do you mean by the fan? the speakers rotate or there is a fan? im going to try and make a 57 based twin reverb. it is for my final year of high school. scratch the computer power supply part. i have to run it off a max of 12v somehow. i dont want to make it battery powered. the flipped panel idea wont work because the pots and chips will just rip out. i really want to make another guitar but it needs some mechanical feature. i was thinking of putting an expression pedal on the guitar as a built in effect. btw what can expression pedals be used for? all i know is it can be used for wah. is ther a site with what pedals sound like and do?
  18. ive asked my teachher and he says it has to be mechanical and electronical. so i cant use any of these designs. 240v cannot be used for power ive thought of making a simple tweed twin reverb amp solidstate. as for the mechanical part, the controls will retract and a flat plate will slide over the controls. this will work when the unit is turned off. anyone know of any of a online shop for amp pots, chips? i am also going to buy two 8" 50w speakers im going to somehow use a computer power supply box for the power. if you have any ideas in making a mechanical part of the guitar please say.
  19. i need help on what to do to my guitar for my systems engineering class. it has to be not too complex/easy and should take me half a year at school. i was thinking of one of these add inbuilt effects into a guitar mod it for guitar hero build an amp with built in multi effects so far the guitar hero idea seems good enough. i dont want to spend too much on this.
  20. sounds clear and crisp but a bit muddy when the tone is changed bassy little if no fret buzz and stays in tune. good ol floyd only thing thats gay is my lead is screwd again so it may just be the lead im not sure
