  1. Forgot to mention that I had to compress my photos a lot to be able to post them. I am not sure how to post higher quality images, so if anyone wants to see pictures in higher quality, please let me know how. Sorry!
  2. My first build is almost complete! The body is two piece alder that I illustrated on with posca pens and a few different ink pens. It was finished with a water-based polyurethane. I did not build the neck, it is just a mighty mite neck from stewmac. I used my schools innovation center as my building space, so I wanted to make sure I’d be done by the end of the year (given that I started in February). Next fall I plan on doing an entire build from scratch over the course of the school year. I did not have access to a router when making the electronics cavities so I had to stick with a drill press and some chisels. I am very happy with how it turned out for a first time build. I still need to finish the electronics, which I will do this weekend. It has a kill-switch as well as a push-pull tone pot that is intended to be used for parallel/series switching between the two single coil pickups. Let me know what you think!
  3. I am planning a seven string guitar build that will begin around the beginning of fall, as it will be for a school project for my senior year. This will be my third build by then, the first being a telecaster that I built and did an illustration on. I am planning to post pictures of that once it is fully complete, but the finishing process will take a bit to complete. The second will be a five string fretless bass that I am building this summer. Anyway, back to the topic at hand. I’ve decided that I want to have a full natural wood look instead of painting it, and I need some help deciding on wood. I’d like to have a Swamp Ash body, a Wenge neck, and a Pale Moon Ebony fretboard. I haven’t been able to decide on a top for it though. I was thinking maybe Claro Walnut? What do you guys think would look nice to really accentuate the Pale Moon Ebony. If you have any suggestions for changes in the neck or body wood I’d love to hear them as well. I am planning on making it in a similar style as Skervesen Guitars Raptor or Nubelung models if that helps at all.
