  1. what kind of maple should i use for the modification...curly,birdeye or the normal maple .also should i go for hard or soft?
  2. thanks a lot russ...i`ll keep you updated with the work.right now i`m looking for the maple blocks and the veneer.(somebody please help me with the wood... )
  3. hmm...thegarehanman if i can get the maple piece and the veneer cheaply..i can go ahead with it. Can you give me tips to how to go about it...I was planning not to remove any part of the already present headstock...make a template of the piece to be added , cut the new piece of maple accordingly and then attach it...and then veneer the whole headstock .Now i wanna get into the hobby with this modification...damn it`s so addictive. anyone who has a maple block of 10 inches x 5 inches x 1 inches and some veneer ...contact me.I know it`s not a lot of wood ... but thats all i need for the modifivation thanks for the replies guys.keep them coming.
  4. Hey Mickguard..I was planning to put maple veneer on the headstock and not paint it..I thought it would look awesome..now after reading the replies of you guys , I`m confused.I really dig the 70s fender headstock(mez a major fan of hendrix and malmsteen )..and getting a new strat style neck would be too expensive. Hey al, I like the guitar a lot..something i always wanted...the guitars awesome, the tone and the feel is just too good.I don`t want to part with it , I have squier strat back home and all i can say about them is they suck!I was kinda wondering if i can get a perfect strat look out of it.
  5. thegarehanman...yes , i was looking for someone to help on this.I absolutely have no tools and no experience with wood working...i was planning to modify the guitar a bit .. i always wanted a complete strat style guitar ..and i`m really happy with the peavey find..awesome guitar.
  6. where can I get the small block of maple for the headstock alterations...how much will it cost me?and can i get some veneer for the headstock too. it`ll be great if someone can help me on this.
  7. Thanks Nitefly...I don`t have the tools to do that.So I`m looking for someone to help me on this one.
  8. Hi Guys, I have been a silent member on the forums. You guys are amazing. I got a 93 make Peavey Predator (strat Style ..made in the US of A) for real cheap.I absolutely love it.I would like to customize it.The fingerboard is real smooth and the early 90s guitars are one of the most underrated guitars. I plan to do a few modifications to the guitar (new pick guard , new pickups and probably new tuners,LSR nut .. in a few months) , for this I need your help. One thing I didn`t like about the Peavey is it`s head stock. The peavey seems to an exact replica of a fender strat except for the headstock..I`m surprised fender didn`t sue them.I have always been a fan of the fender strats but I can`t really afford one right now..even a used Mexican strat!.But the peavey early 90s is a lot better than the Mexican strats.I was wondering if any of you guys can help me convert the peavey headstock into a fender 70s large headstock or the regular headstock on a strat...i seriously would prefer the 70s large headstock with decent finish.I think it would involve joining a piece of wood to the pevey headstock..I have absolutely no experience or much knowledge.I`m sure it won`t require much modifications and it`ll be a real simple job for you guys, and i`m sure you guys will have fun working on it. I`m attaching pics of the headstock on my guitar and the pics of the fender headstocks.I`ll handle the shipping expenses.I`m a international grad student and I`m on a strict budget. If you are interested and are confident of doing a good job please contact me.I can ship you the neck. suggestions are welcome. ..and I`m in Indiana - Bloomington. peace sharat pics of peavey head stock... http://community.webshots.com/myphotos?act...security=iLIiKl http://community.webshots.com/myphotos?act...security=KwGdPZ fender head stocks... http://community.webshots.com/myphotos?act...security=PAmhbu http://community.webshots.com/myphotos?act...security=OudzOw
