  1. Hey all, i read someone, somewhere on this site has a few headstock decals on file ? i was wondering if i could possibly get the ESP decal, and wasburn, i'v elooked all over, but i don't want the ones you actually got to purchase, i tried em on two or three guitars i restored, but hell, did'nt like the work i had to put in to them, not my taste, i just want to like spray paint em on, then clear coat, simple, in out and done anyway thanks for reading -Nelson
  2. hey guys, long time i have'nt been online. Either way, i got a bit of prob, i got a zakk wylde bullseye les paul, epi version, now i got a bit probs with this guitar, it bored the **** out of me, cosmetically, so i changed the hardware to chrome, and well i loved it....but i also got bored of that gold plated nut cover, i got some chrome spray can paint, uhmuhm it says , rust oleum bright coat metallic finish chrome paint, don't know if it matter or not....but i wanted to make the nut cover chroed as well...so is the paint i got good ? or not ? also, i sanded the gold lating off of the nut, so it's down to it's true brass, also....once i paint it....what sealer do i use ? second prob, i hate the epi style headstock, hate it.....so i want to add horns to it, kind of like a widow bc rich head stock....i was thinking...could i cut out the extra horns out of some sort of wood....and use some kind of glue to stick it to the sides ? maye epoxy ? and lastlye....i hate the epi logo....i want to put a gibson logo....i know i cn mask off everything but the epi word so i can spray black over it.....then clear coat....and use high grit sand paper till it's all level.... but i was wondering......could i do that same technique to the body ? see, in ozzy's get me through video, zakk uses a black les paul, but with mirror inlays on the bulls eyes...so i was wondering.....could i mask of the parts i want to chrome...then use sealer ? oh yeah, the the way, i got this dean dimebagg darell tribute ml, i was wondering, could i use some sealer over the clear coat ? i love those dimbagg darrell stickers that come on em, so i was wondring if i could just seal cot ontop and then sooth it down with some high grit ? also....can the same technique that was used for the that ibanez headstock, be used to make fake binding on the fret board ?
  3. I agree, i have seen actual original relics, and some look better in the sense of a "relic" and some don't look liek they've aged a bit, just some yellow corrosion to the once original white parts true, BUT.....how much does a real ORIGINAL relic cost ? i unfortunately don't have that much money, so i opted to buy a cheap knock off guitar, made the body APPEAR as a relic, and then, well faux ebonied the neck, reshaped the headstock and removed the horrible horrible smiley face decal it had on the head stock, oh and i removed both the frets and inlays, i wanted this neck with no inlay, although you can still kinda tell where they once where from in close, but then again it kind of works into my favour, almost liek "they fell off along time ago, so they were replaced" sort of thing i'm gonna replace the small frets it had with huge frets, caqn't stand them small fretless wonders. And as i said, just gonna buy an aged or white picguard and all parts, age them myself....and on they go i just could'nt seem to make the headstock ancient, coudl dye it, i tried but could'nt get it working, i might use heat gun and darken it up a bit either way, thanks all thanks for the info and remarks oh by the way.....i've modded guitars....but never painted them...let aloen finish....i might have doen this one wrong....i got it to look the y i wanted....BUT....i bought a clear coat spray can....and...well i got soem of those horrible runs....i'm tempted to just sand it down and redo it again...but i knwo it won't come out right.....some help ? i mean i taped off the black acrylic that i left from the original color, but i can't seem to get a proper coating.... uhm the can says it's TREMCLAD clear protective top coat did i buy the wrong one ? also, i made a custom nut cover for one of my gibson, and i spray painted it chrome.....what should i use to seal it with ? SO SORRY FOR THE LONG POST
  4. So does it look Ancient relic or what ? any opinion or remarks are greatly appreciated
  5. Thanks, i'll submit the photos in a second then also i ebonized the neck with that faux ebony trick, i also removed the dot inlays in order to have a bareneck, i used wood filler and then some faux ebony dye and it turned out beautiful, here's the link to the piuctures, sorry no pictures of the neck yet, i'm gonna use the exact pickup configuration that yngwie j malmsteen uses, one humbucker split in two, and one original dimazio pickup, as for the neck however, i won't scallop it, i've played and know how to use one...just....never really dug it, did'nt really like it, i like vibrato and so forth, but i can do it good on a non scalloped neck, so....meh....besides i don't like TOO much vibrato, which from a scalloped neck you CAn get more bend range than a normal neck but meh i'm rambling on, i'll post pictures of the neck tommorow, hardware will be a vintage 60's fender tremolo system, it's aged so it looks relic, so it will be perfect with the guitar, string will be light, or megidum light, or i might even custom it, maybe an 8 to 42 ? 46 ? meh, anyway give me your opinions and reactions Back Shot Back angle Shot Front Shot back shot
  6. crap uhm, i'm trying to put up soem photo's but don't see a button here on how to put one in, sorry i actually did read through the facts and helps, i must be tarded i can't see how to do it
  7. Thanks, really helped me out, especially with the whole headstock problem, only one question, where can i find that "tightboand" glue ? or anythign similar, i live in canada dude, just mentioning I'm guessing theres no other way to take off that entire black with just some paint stripper eh ? guess i can sand it ....argh........well i'm kind of chisseling it off, which i'm actually doing a really good job at it, not screwing up the body too much, just little tiny pieces of wood that came off here and there, but i can prob just buy some wood filler and touch that up no prob
  8. Hey all, names Nelson, i'm a newb to the board/forum but nto to guitars and repairs, and mods. I've modded les pauls alot, but recently the wife bought me this cheap fender knock off, a..."Nova" i just got two quick probs 1) I can't for the life of me seem to be able to remove the entire paint off the body, i want to bring it down to the bare wood 2) the headstock on the neck looks liek that of a Telecaster, and i want i to be that of the old style 60's CBS fender era headstock ( for a good example check out yngwie malmsteens custom guitars, those large ass headstocks) So my question is, can i simply, well in other words, and to put it simply, make the extra sides and curves to glue it on to make it appear as if, a whole headstock ? sort of taking it from the tut in the repair section of the man who built a whole new headstock, can i do somethign liek that ? except to just add on to the already there headstock ? if so, what type of glue or binding agent can i use ? (don't worry i'm probably gonna use maple to make the extra headstock section, it's goign to be painter jet black, so does'nt matter if the woods contrast )
