Thanx! I may go for 3 pieces of maple, if I happen to find them with you know... different wood "run" - I dont know how to say it in english... Just the stripes in the wood! As they must be in different directions, it might be hard to find that. I won't go for tapered, sounds too complicated Thanx!

Hello Folks! I'm planning to build two sevenstring-guitars with a friend of mine, and were planning to do 3pc maple/mahogany necks. How wide would you recommend the thru-neck to be all-in-all? I was planning on making it 80mm wide (wide at 24th is 68mm) what do you think of that? Well, and secondly, how wide should the center laminate be? I figured out, that if I would do it 30mm, I would have to spend much less money on the wood as if I would do it more narrow. -> So 30mm would be the ideal measurement. (theoretically ) The problem is: the maple-sidelaminates will only be 9mm at the nut (48mm nut width, 30mm center laminate) Will this decrease the stability of my neck??? I hope you know, what my problem is, otherwise just tell me, I may try to explain it better Thanks for suggestions and help!!! Greez Martin

Hello Folks!! I m still planning on my neckthrough-7 and I still don't know a lot about the nature of tunomatic bridges... I heard of two ways of avoiding a too high action with tunomatic bridges. 1.) Neck angle of approx. 2 degree 2.) setting the fretboard a bit higher, but not angled. Do you know, what I mean? I hope so... What about sinking the bridge into the body? I consider doing this, although the original cool look of the tunomatic gets kinda lost Well thanx for your ideas. Yeah, I agree totally that a multi-laminate neck looks way cooler, but im just afraid of building one... In addition, i come from switzerland where I can't just go to my wood dealer next door... It's soooo hard to find any tonewood! Do you think, it's possible to build a 5pc neck with minimum tool equipment? I'm just 17 years old now, and i don't really have money to buy a planing machine! I could just bring it over to a local woodworker to plane it... would be another option! Well what do you think? should i give it a try? And another short question: On IBZ three-piece maplenecks, there are sometimes these veeery thin almost black stripes between the laminates. What wood is that? i heard it was "tulipwood".. As I am just making up my first guitar in my mind and still collecting ideas, I wanted to ask you once what you think of a one piece hardmaple through-neck on a sevenstring hardtail guitar. Will it be stable enough to stand the tension of seven strings? I'm thinking of using a one-piece because it's my first guitar and I wanna put it off as simple as possible... Or would you rather tend to build a 3 or 5 piece-neck due to stability? Theres a great picture of a one-piece-through-neck in RGGR's RGT220-thread in the "Work in progress and finished work" section, so you could get a better idea of ehat I'm talking about. Hi folks! I recently bought an Ibanez Universe off Ebay - It was in a good overall condition, but... the pickups look HORRIBLE! They're scratched really bad and the magnetic poles (sry i don't know what they're called in english) are rusted Now my question - How do you think I can repair or refinish or call it whatever you want the caps and poles?? What about just spraying them? Or will this interfere with the performance of the PU'`s? I heard you can screw out the poles with a regular allen wrench - can I totally unscrew them from the pickup?
