  1. I knew this was gonna turn out sweet, im all for the classy, vintage vibe...not into radical stuff... The faded burst worked out beautiful and the pickguard rocks. Nice one mate Dan
  2. Looking good mate and i havent got round to saying well done on winning the battle of the wenge guitars ! :-)
  3. Never gold....Never never never...it is gross and should be banned from use on any guitar ! ha ha (ok ill forgive SRV's strat) ;-) I voted chrome of course...chrome or nickel preferably or satin nickel but would need to see what style of guitar it is? trad vintage style or some weirdy modern design?
  4. Oh is it over ha ha? i didnt even know...i thought it ran for a month till the next one starts.. oh ok cool i guess i came third then ! im happy with that thanks everyone Dan ;-)
  5. Like i have you mean? ;-) Personally i hate godin guitars ( the real ones) so anything other than that is progress ! I know you as the "milk dud" guy so maybe thats the winner? Didnt even know what a milk did was till last week... But i still think people should just use their real names its not 1981 anymore CB handles are dead guys !...but if we are going back in time then you all need to start calling me "Little legs" ;-) Breaker breaker 1 - 9 Rubber Ducky...we got ourselves a CONVOY ,......Purlease !
  6. Not my taste...reminds me of an e number packed sugar coated marzipan infused childrens birthday cake !! lol...what acid were you on at the time of building?...
  7. Mickguard " Yeah, I solved this problem by just leaving my old mom and getting a wife. Of course, she sometimes try to act like my new mom, but that's just the way wives are. At least, this is my place, I do what I want. " I knew as soon as i posted this that someone would presume i am still living with my mum...not so...bought my first house at 22 !!....but admit no i havent got me a wifey yet. Funny thing is....i AM going to move back with my mother this year...long story...my "not so nice" step father and mother have finally decided to split....im desperate for my own workshop and to try and make a go of it with a small guitar building/maintenance/repair workshop...cant afford to pay my rent and do it so moving back with mum, getting workshop in her land and trying to get the thing off the ground ...once its hopefully ticking over will look to move into my own flat/appartment again ( or whatever you yanks call it)
  8. my two penneth... Since i saw the link for these asian guitars yesterday i have been pouring over the site....That green les paul is stunning...soooo much so its now my desktop background and also "I must build a green top les paul" is on the list. Im a real "vintage/trad" kinda guy....Gibson, fender, les pauls, strats, and teles....and other gibbos....im not a fan of the PRS brigade....but ...some of the guitars on that asian site look amazing...and ok so its off from tradition but that green trans, blue trans looks so sweet on the les paul body shape...with the zebra pick ups.. My view...Sure...they are asian....but you can see from the pics they are made well....and my view on cheaper guitars....if they are made of the correct timbers....real maple caps and not veneer etc....then with our "knowledge" and "skills" ( im talking all us budding luthiers) we have the ability to make pretty much any guitar play well, stay in tune and maybe with new pick ups have killer tone. For $600 ( about £350) i would have one of these guitars....full set up, fret dress, replace pick ups...and for £500 you would have a killer guitar...back up, or something that just looks amazingly COOL for that song or 2 !! we should all by now with our luthier skills be able to pick up say a Squier or jap fender and make it play as well as a US built guitar? ( maybe a debateable example but you get what i mean) or an epiphone to hold up well against a gibbo?. saying all that....a while ago i very nearly plumped for an xaviere shell top zemaitis style ( Tony came from my neck of the woods as did Sid Poole )...but they seemed too good to be true?...and the headstock looked a bit "cheap"...but again i was happy to spend a couple of hundred quid (pounds) on it...but are they really that bad? anyone played one? is it just bad set up and fretwork? ...are these so called GFS pick ups as good as the hype or terrible?.... and the person that mentioned the Aria...i have a 76 aria pro les paul custom....as a spare/back up for my gibbos...and it handles very well...!..
  9. Oh i have started mate ( and finished) ....just on a temporary pause. have big plans this year though ! ;-)
  10. Wow....Ok so we are in a "wenge" battle right now but please remind me not to try and do battle with this one when it turns up in the GOTM !! ... And i didnt even realise till i saw the pic of your that your just a kid !! make me sick i tell thee....sick ! Nice work fella. Im getting frustrated i cant start building anything until i have my workshop...and that wont happen till my old mum buys a new house and lets me put one in her garden !...shoudl be later this year sometime. Dan
  11. Haha why is it each time people list a run through and comment on each guitar they leave me out of it?...lol Believe you fall under the category of edible wenge. Thats plain wengist !
  12. Haha why is it each time people list a run through and comment on each guitar they leave me out of it?...lol maybe i entered too late or something and people havent seen my effort? lol ;-)
  13. I agree....I would go with the pick guard...but i would opt for a more trad style lp junior one. And i agree with mickguard.....either both soapbar or both dogear...never mix styles... Same with mixing styles of knobs on one guitar? it looks wrong. Guitar is looking beautiful though ;-)
