  2. alright thanks allot guys but in the end persistence payed off and i figured out the error of my ways lol carve is now complete! oil is on electronics come tomorrow:P
  3. well its sold now none the less lol i decided i would keep it for myself(nat fin neck is so much smother than gloss maple) so took it to a party and a guy fell in love with it he disappeared for an hour came back and offered me $1000 cash....worked out rather nicley ITEM IS SOLD>
  4. i have made two ash necks, a 5 piece out of alpine ash(australian native possibly) what came out rather great i thought rather sharp tonal effects and then a European single piece carbon coated neck(think parker on steroids) which in comparison to my other carbon coated necks is really dull and lifeless so on the tonal side of things aussie alpine ash is a feasible tone wood although very heavy! but euro on the other hand i will not bother touching again.
  5. my "by hand" attempts where with a finger plane but every time at the tip talking off maybe .5 of a mm it still chips out....ffs lol maybe im trying to get the point to fine... ill go do another attempt now with a scraper 27 is great for me i have "banana hands" and have been playing only 27-28' scale 8 strings for almost a year so going back to a normal guitar is hell....hence the starting of this project lol and playing in A# on a 25.5 is near impossible even with 65's lol
  6. selling a custom based exactly on a ibanez xiphos 27 fret wich was a pleasure to build being a huge Muhammed Suicmez fan but it was for a customer and here we are 6 months later(after complete date) and i have not been able to contact him and he has not been in contact with me so.....going by our agreement i now have full rights to sell it off to make back my losses ...his bad luck is now your good. first off I DONT HAVE A CAMERA! 7. yep you heard right a 27' scale neck through prs.. i started this endeavor about a week ago now only to realize 3/4 of the way through(finished other than the top/finish/electronics)...i had no idea how to go about the carved top on a mccarty... never actually having played one so i tried it on pine first rather than destroying a beautiful piece of flamed tasmanian blackwood my issue is that "spine"(best way i can describe it) on the top horn and shaping it, trying on a pine slab only to find every time when i come back into the "spine" from the pickup side(other side perfect) i always mess up the very tip of it(near strap button) weather im doing it by hand or with an orbital disk.... is there a special trick to this or some form of tip somebody can give me or just stick to it? when i say "mess up" i mean it chips out only about 3-4mm worth of a chunk but we all know that destroys a beautiful top any and all help appreciated. if i did that bad of a job describing what i meant please be sure to say and ill have another go
  8. thanks for the reply man. i had 70's on my esp flame baritone (George Lynch sig)before i sold the thing and it played like a dream, probably for the reasons of how "weirdly" i do a set up but how i play is how a play. guitar is actually all finished now plays a treat i ended up putting a flame maple cap on each wing and stained it purple to match in with the neck it looks insane but still no camera:(
  9. its been a long time since i have been on this site and im starting to wonder why you guys have the best forum out. well back to the point thismorning i started my new project a 27" baritone because im sick of short scale guitars not being able to handle low tunings(drop a) im using 70 gauge strings at the moment on my lp(24 3/4') and my vendetta(25.5') and both are preforming ok but nothing special so i decided i was making a baritone instead of a 8 string. i made up the neck blank with a purple heart strip down the center then two 10mm strips of walnut on either side then finished off with flame maple on the sides. it is glued up and sitting there waiting till i have time to work on it again. body is one piece blackwood cut into my own custom shape that i have used for 2 previous guitars the grain looks beautiful in the blackwood but the color is weak and pale so im going to stain a nice dark black to tie in well with the other timbers. ebony fretboard maple inlays(this is already done took me 6 hours!!!!!) so far with the body all i have done is cut the shape and routed the neck pocket(deep set past bridge) tomorrow if i get the time i will start the neck carving and get some pics up(if i can find someone i can steal a camera from) of the progress and all the beastly machines of metal i have made so far LMAO hardwear i have sitting round for when its done. pups: direct mount emg's or blackouts i guess:( IF ANYONE KNOWS OF PASSIVE PICKUPS THAT CAN HANDLE DROP A PLEASE!!! PM ME!!!! bridge:Schaller Hannes(top two saddles modified for large gaugestrings) (routed underneath to avoid neck angle and save time) tuners:grover rotomatics(drilled for 70 ga strings) 2 way truss extra jumbo fret wire
