  1. it took a while to find the sweet spots for the pickups but every day it seems to play better than the last. I have an EMG 61 in the neck and 81 in the bridge. Action is good too, although with the bolt on neck the fret access on the lower part of the neck is not great. Also this is probably the lightest explorer i have ever played.
  2. This is a project i recently completed, its my first guitar build. I guess i kindof cheated on the neck because i bought a warmoth. I wanted it to actually sound good and building a neck from scratch seemed daunting and a little time consuming for me right now. The neck is mahogony and the body is made of alder, i choose alder ebcause i did not want to spend a lot of money on exotic woods for my first build. I thought the figure of the alder came out nice anyways. http://host157.ipowerweb.com/~worldwar/klexp/7.jpg http://host157.ipowerweb.com/~worldwar/klexp/2.jpg http://host157.ipowerweb.com/~worldwar/klexp/3.jpg http://host157.ipowerweb.com/~worldwar/klexp/4.jpg http://host157.ipowerweb.com/~worldwar/klexp/5.jpg http://host157.ipowerweb.com/~worldwar/klexp/6.jpg
  3. Hello, I just finished my guitar body and am going to start finishing the neck today. I bought an unfinished neck from warmoth and was wondering if its ok to use masking tape to tape off the fretboard and such and then just use a spray gun to polyurethane it. If anyone has any better techniques i would love to hear them.
  4. alright thinks, its just i was reading so much, lot of useful information on hear but got a little confused along the way.
  5. so you actually use the router to cut the shape out too, i was under the impression that you would use a band saw to do that sort of thing and then use the router to make the cuts for the pickups etc.
  6. Hello, I had a few question about laminate tops. I am a bit confused do you glue your laminate to your body blank first then cut and route or do you cut the body out first and then glue the laminate top on. I can't seem to find an answer to this question anywhere. Thanks
