  1. Thanks alot for the suggestions, I'll start doing some reasearch into how I should go about doing them now. I'll post on here in a few weeks time when it's all done. Thanks again.
  2. Sorry, I'm having difficulty comprehending this again. Basically, I have a body with space for four pots and a switch routed into it, I have no need for tone controls as the pickups have an EQ built in, so please could you help out and give me some suggestions as to what to do with the additional pot space. Thanks alot.
  3. Thanks very much for your help, but I'm not sure that I understand everything you had to say, just one thing in particular though - "Are you blending the mag PUs (using the pot) and treating it as 1 PU for output purposes? If so, wire the selector switch just like you would for 2 mag PUs (substitute the Ghost for 1 of the mag PUs)." Now, I have 2 pickups - Shadow SHEQ5 pickups and one piezo system that will have an acoustiphonic preamp but I am interested to know how to do the following. I want to use one blend bot to blend and switch between the magnetic pickups and the toggle switch to choose between a magnetic signal, a mixed magnetic/pizo signal and a piezo signal. I then want to use another blend pot to blend between the piezo and magnetic output if at all possible. With one volume pot for both magnetic pockups and one volume pot for the piezo. Hope this helps. Thanks again
  4. Hey, sorry to repost this, but I urgently need help with this and nobody replied to the last post. Could anyone please help me out and either suggest where I can find diagrams of this or point me in the direction of someone who can draw up a diagram even. I need to wire up the following 2 Shadow SHEQ5 pickups and a GHOST Piezo system ( The guitars controls would look identical to a Les Pauls ) toggle switch (positions) 1 - magnetic p/u 2 - magnetic p/u + piezo 3 - piezo control knobs magnetic p/u volume pot magnetic p/u blend pot magnetic p/u + piezo blend pot piezo volume pot Thanks again.
  5. Thanks alot, it may sound nescient, but I am new to the whole guitar electronics things, but is what you're suggesting possible - with the additional blend pot for the piezo/magnetic thing, if so that'd be great, but I'm going to need some help on how I would wire that up. Again any help is appreciated.
  6. Hi, I just recently bought two Shadow SHEQ5 pickups and Im working on a guitar just now - it has four spaces for pots and one switch like on a les paul, I would apprciate if anyone on here could help me out. I want to stick a Piezo in this aswell, I was thinking about having a belnd pot for blending between the pickups and using the switch to choose between magnetic, piezo and a mixed signal rather than using it to select humbuckers. I also want to have a volume control which controls the magnetic pickups output, but I dont need a tone control as the pickups have a 5 band eq built in. I would really appreciate if someone could suggest what I should do with the other 2 pots - maybe a piezo volume and somehting else. I would also be grateful for any help on how I should go about doing all of this. Thanks.
  7. Thanks for all the help and advice people. If you seriously think a hard gloss finish is the better thing, I'd consider it, but I just don't like the glassy look on alot of tops, I feel that the oil finishes make it look alot more natural, but as said, if they gloss is that much better I'd consider it. As for Rockeros' project, the streaks add something to that, it looks good. Oh, and about the shellac, I've heard horror stories about using the stuff, but I'll still look into it. Thanks again.
  8. Thanks alot, you've been a great help. Ah, I was aware I wouldn't get a glossy finish using tung oil, what I ment was - would the tung oil affect the underlying dye in anyway - that sort of thing. I would like to finish it using the aniline dyes using a dark brown as the first coat to bring out the grain then a lighter shade of brown or amber finished with tung oil. Thanks again, and I'm going to buy a cheap piece of maple off eBay to practice on - the Warmoth was too expensive to afford mistakes. Thanks.
  9. Hi, I've decided to pick up some water soluble aniline dyes from LMII and I'm keen to know if it is possible to finish some high grade flame maple in a style similar to a PRS or mikhailgtrski's Warmoth project, but use Tung Oil as the final clear coat rather than nitrocellulose. I'm new to all of this, so for just now I want to avoid nitrocellulose. I have the parts for my Warmoth project coming in the next few feeks, so again, any help is appreciated. Thanks.
  10. As the title suggests - I'm desparate to a supplier of this in the UK, the only places I can find selling ColorTone are over in the States and none of them seem overly keen about shipping it to Scotland. So, I would appreciate any help you could offer me as regards finding this stuff. If it isn't possible - is it possible to achieve a dye type finish like a PRS or like Mikhail's Warmoth Project in the In Progress forum using Woodburst Dyes - anyway, thanks for any help you can give me. Thanks.
