  2. why is everyone dissing on the banjo? theyre the ****! if i had the extra cash, id definately buy one. ive always wanted to put a banjo line in a brutal death metal song......
  3. Im making a guitar with a string thru body, and when i drilled the string-thru holes they didnt turn out perfectly straight. What i have now will still work, in fact it looks kind of cool. Anyway, the holes on the back of the guitar are a little bunched togeteher, so i would have to sand down the rims of the ferrules so theyll fit next to each other. So is there something else i could use, or leave it empty? Thanks.
  4. What do people think of Jacskons now that they are owened by Fender, compared to before the merge? (i.e. playability, action, quality, etc.)
  5. aight, well i found out theses pickups are from an RG2027X Prestige i cant find the diagrams though. not even ibanez.com has it in their wiring diagrams. it was only made in 2000, and its not in the 2000 catagory, so please help.
  6. yeah, thats exactly it. the XLR-1/4 is stereo, and the 1/4-1/8 is mono. thats the problem. thank you very much.
  7. thanks for all the help, but ive tried all those things. making sure the mic input volume is up, looking at sound level bars, but it still continues to have the same problems. im using a demo version of Mackie Traktion, and a free program called Audacity. neither work. as for the mic input, i know it works, because for testing i plugged in a guitar directly to it. i think my comp just cant record with a mic. thanks for the help.
  8. im aware of how a continuity tester works, but how would you do it with a pickup?
  9. its ok if theyre not actual dimarzios, i just needed to mainly know if the wiring diagrams would work or not.
  10. http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n245/12056/DCP_1320.jpg http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n245/12056/DCP_1317.jpg (the writing on the back says "MADE IN JAPAN") awhile ago i got these pickups off ebay. the guy said they came out of an ibanez prestige. they came in dimarzio boxing, along with the wiring instructins, so im not sure if they are dimarzios, or some stock brand. so im just trying to verify that my wiring diagrams are correct. (http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/schematics/color_codes.html dimarzio, and http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/schem...h_1v_1t_3w.html with the dimarzio codes substitued) thanks for the help.
  11. its a shure pg57, and i dont thknk it requires phantom power. nothing is said about it in the manuals. as for the min and line-in being selected, i only have one, like you said, and it still is not working. my computer is a 2002, so it might be incompatible with what im using, but probably not. (i dont know, im computer stupid) thhe diaphram has stopped making that wird staticy noise, but still fails to pickup sound.
  12. im trying to record with my mic onto a computer. it has to run through 2 different converters (XLR-1/4", and 1/4"-1/8") to hook up to the computer properly. ive tested all of the components, they work perfectly, but the mic will not pick up any sound at all. alot of the time, the diaphram of the mic itself will make one of those computer-static noises, without picking up any tone. my mic book says that you have to run the mic through a mixer, then the mixer to the comp. do you have to do this? i just dont want to have to spend 40-50 bucks if i dont have to. thanks.
  13. do you want to put the iron directly on the wood or on something?
  14. isnt the metod to slight grain expansion is to put a little bit of water on the scratched/gouged/whatever wood, then put a cloth on the wood, then put an iron on the cloth? im a little confused. help is much appreciated. thanks.

  20. its a 7-in-line, quite similar to an ibanez head, and it tapers on the side that will have the pegs.
  21. isnt that the guitar that you got that monster tearout on, then made that cover plate? if it is, weres the tearout?
  22. im pretty sure its fine, but the bandsaw blade wasnt at a perfect 90 degree angle when i thinned out the head, so the it slightly tapers longways from about .6" to .5" thick. will that be ok? or should i glue a thin piece on and sand it down to correct thickness? thanks.
