  1. rosewood usualy gets lichter due to licht etc... most rosewoods ive seen atleast, like the realy dark purplish indian rosewood. Give it some sunlight for a some time and it can ( also depending on what type of finish i guess) turn to light brownish. EDIT: or put the guitar under a UV lamp if you dont want to wait for a year or more...
  2. is there some flame on that zebrano or are those some marks from a planer or sumtin?
  3. so is there a vid where we can actualy see him play it, instead of hearing some funky bass stuff with no idea who is playing it on what... he probaly made a fretless cuz he cant fret a neck. reminds me of wishbass.com or sumtin like it, same lame stuff fretless cuz it takes no skills, and strings hanging on the edge of the fretboard... kinda pathetic imo
  4. if you grain fill with epoxy, youl seal the wood right, so how can you use oil finish when youve sealed the wood?? doesnt make any sence to me, but maybe im missing sumtin.
  5. from what ive HEARD, schaller makes great floyd copies.
  6. your not some secret undercover salesman for stewmac are ya??
  7. hahaha, everyone seems to hate zachary guitars, i actualy like them alot
  8. thats the last thing i expected when i read the title, but damn i like it
  9. rounder is more comfortable for chords, and flatter is more comfortable for soloing etc. ofcuz this also kinda relies on personal preference and opinion.
  10. wow how did you get that color?? black stain first and then sanded down and put green stain over it or sumtin?? anyway, looks awesome
  11. u do know that old strings loose their tuning accuracy do you??
  12. damn i wish i could find anytype of usable wood at a roadside
  13. you could try to get some wilkinson sadles, if you make a bridbe plate yourself or sumtin.. http://www.blackmachine.net/ look at what he made a bridge plate out of ebony, and used wilkinson saddles.
  14. you could try laqwuer thats uv protective (whatever its called) ive heard from some luthiers that thats the way to keep padouk and purpleheart wood keep their awesome color.. never tryd it myself though
  15. man, dont worry about what your design looks like, i think that most designs that already exists, or are close to ''a'' other guitar dont worry about it and build a nice guitar
  16. awesome guitar your making there. i dig the headstock, i had a similar shape in mind for 1 of my guitarprojects
  17. holy ****, i hafto get some bloodwood for a fretboard, thats looks sexy as F**k actualy, their both sexy, but that fretboard realy turned me on
  18. you mean a fretboard with NO radius?? my dad has a custom build guitar with no radius, i hate it, its kinda weird cuz your finger has to be realy flat for chords sweeps and stuff, i personaly like a radiused fretboard, but you could also make the radius realy flat like 20 inch or so?? it will seem realy flat, but its still slightly rounded, sweeps and chords will mostlikely be much more comfortable thatway, and its also moer natural for your hand i guess. though thats my personal opinion
  19. flamed maple fretboards look cool, im working on one at the moment, although it doesnt have a realy high grade flame i guess flamed maple fretboard 1 flamed maple fretboard 2
  20. hello peeps, im kiem, im 22 years old, and im gona try to build a guitar (hopefully a lot more in the future). i just started building a telecaster, shape wise that is. mahogany body maple neck and flamed maple fretboard. ive already found alot of tips on this site, and i seemed smart to join also, nvm my english, im not very good at spelling and typing, so my writing doesnt make to much sence most of the time
  21. hope its ok for me to post here, i didnt feel like making a new thread on maple finishing when there already is one. how necesary isit to finish a maple fretboard?? i own a custom build guitar, wich has a unfinished maple neck (well its finished with oil, linseedoil i believe, not sure), wich feels great. now ive just started building a tele with a maple neck and maple fretboard... can i finish a maple fretboard with some oil aswell, just like the neck on my other guitar??? the fretboard is flamed maple, would it look better with laque or with oil?? or doesnt it matter alot?? thnx kiem
