  1. Ok that sounds good. I suppose I'll just start with 1/4 inch and go from there.
  2. Hello, I've searched and can't seem to find an answer to this what is the "ideal" thickness for a fingerboard, and how high should It be above the body? my guitar im planning is going to have no neck angle and a strat style bridge, so how thick should the fingerboard be and how high should it be over the body? Thanks a load
  3. Ok so on a neck thru guitar, does the truss rod extend all the way to the end of the neck or does it just go to the end of the fingerboard? I tried looking at the neck thru tutorial but the images are disabled, any idea how I could see it? Thanks
  4. hmm that interesting, cause one of my friends who built a bass using coco for the fingerboard said that you HAVE to seal it or else it would rot. but his guitar turned out crappy anyway so lol thanks for the help silly boy
  5. haha well this thread has turned into quite a bit more then I expected it to Silly boys arguing over glue lol So I've decided that I'm going to very lightly wipe down the board with acetone and then glue it with titebond 1. One more question. I AM gonna oil the fretboard, but do I need to put some kind of sealer on it?
  6. Yes I have read all about the toxic info on coco and I'm going to be very careful. Although I havn't received my wood yet so I have no idea if I'll have a reaction or not. When you wiped it down with the alcohol, did you let the alcohol dry for a few hours before applying the glue? Thanks a lot Pics will be up eventually
  7. Ok so I've pretty much gathered all the details I need, but I just have a few questions I would like to ask. 1: For the fingerboard wood, I am going to use (duh da da da!) Cocobolo. I've heard that since it is very oily it can be difficult to glue, so my question is: what special care do I need to take in gluing (should I wipe it down with something?) and what type of glue is best? Titebond? Gorilla Glue? Also, Cocobolo doesnt need a finish correct? I can just leave it as is? 2: I know that my main neck wood is going to be maple, but I want to have laminate strips in it. What are some cool woods for laminates that arn't to expensive and sound good? I'm looking at purple heart and wenge right now. How much impact on tone do laminates have? 3: Finally, (this relates to the maple) but I really love unfinished maple necks and so I was wondering what sort of oil you would reccomend to rub it down with. Thanks a bunch Fretboardninja
