I recorded a quick sample by plugging the bass straight into the mic input of my computer and using the windows sound recorder. Nothing fancy. just some sounds. tell me what you think. edit..... I suppose it would help if I put in the link. huh?

I can testify to this statement. I went through a few LEDs very fast when I was first messing around with them. At 4$ a pop. I like the idea of them running off the same power source. Hopefully the LED will work somewhat like a battery power indicator. Well, Here I go. wish me luck!

In series!!! In parallel will vive you 9V with more current. I don't know about the resistor for the LEDs. Never palyed with them before. I meant the two devices running parellel to each other, not the batteries wired parellel. Sorry about the confusion.

Well Here is the latest pictures of the bass. Wasn't happy with the first finish. I ended up sanding it down and finishing it again. This time with nitro laquer. Its alot better but I still have a lot of room for improvement in the finishing department. I love the tone of this bass! Its very defined and thick, the smaller stainless frets are really quite nice. It seems like they have more of the open string clang sound higher up the fretboard. I also find myself doing a lot more vibrato because of the added "slickness" or hardness. The bartolini pickup and the aguilar pre are a perfect match. I will have to record sample through the puter later on. pic2 pic3

Hi I have put fiber optics into my latest bass,which also has a Aguilar OBP-1 preamp. I have it wired right now with 1 9v with a resister powering the LED and 1 9v powering the Preamp. They are both switched by the TRS jack. My problem is I'd like to get more voltage to the preamp (18v recommended) but I dont have any more room for batteries. nor do I want to put 3 in it. Does anyone have any tips on how to get more power to the pre? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Well Its been a long time since I started this bass. but its finally in the home stretch. I've got one more tuner to put on. Then I can string it up. I wound up putting an ebony fretboard with stainless frets and fiberoptic sidedots. A Bartolini MMC music man style pickup An Aguilar OBP-1 preamp. A Leo Quan BADA$$ 1 Bridge and a warwick a-just-a-nut style 1 I can not wait to here how this thing sounds!! Here's a quick (not very good) pick of the top so far. I'll hopefully take some glamour shots later this week, after I get it strung and intonated.

Well I think I'm gonna let this go through the weekend, and then put it on evil bay. Make an offer. I would really rather trade or sell it here than deal with ebay. The worst thing I could say is no.

Wow I thought there would be a lot more interest for one of these. Its great for printing out full sized templates and profiles from CAD files. Shameless bump. I'm open to other trade offers too.

Hi , Its been awhile since Iv'e been on PG. I've been doing alot more playing, and less building lately. I've got an HP Designjet 350c d sized Inkjet plotter I need to trade for a nice bass cabinet. I'm running a mesa boogie 400+ and looking for something comparible to an 8x10. But tell me what you got. The inks are over a year old so you may need to get new ones or have them refilled(refurbed). I'm located in between Iowa and illinois and am willing to drive to get a nice cab. Thanks guys. Take it easy, Bruce BTW- I think its great what your doing for Bluespresence. That guy was very cool.

ok, tonight was the first show with the axe bass finished. here's some pics. what a blast!

Well, I made a little progress this week. the three piece neck is laminated with macassar ebony veneer in between the birdseye maple. The body wings are shaped roughly out of 9/4 african mohagany. the wood is that thick in order carve them into a convex shape. The bass body should be about 1 5/8" thick after carving.
