  1. if its binding then u can buy very skinny painters tape thats perfect for this
  2. ehhh it looks like gibson tried to hard...with the lap cutout and the armrest
  3. it also reminds me of the older yamaha headstocks
  4. that would work but it becomes a hassle and in my opinion unless your buying a prebuilt piezo system it really isnt worth while. i still suggest you get one to try because there fun and cheap. and yes u definitely need a preamp/eq type thing or else you can get horrible feedback with any distortion or effects but on just a clean signal it will work but sound quite crappy
  5. i think it would still work because you can put a piezo...i assume ur talking about the little piezo buzzer element thing for like 2$...on just about anything and it will still pick up sound through it so i dont see why a bone saddle wouldnt work as long as is attached so it can pick up the vibration of the strings. please tell me if you find a good eq/buffer because thats what i have trouble with
  6. i really like paul gilberts new reverse iceman
  7. u should post pictures or a link to the impaler thread because if its the guitar im thinking of...it looked crazy cool
  8. i cant imagine there will b that many other than material finishes
  9. i nnever actually got to finding a way to ground the strings on this guitar but the hum is very minimal so im not worried about it
  10. its strange that this thread has turned into just talking about the smell of woods mayb an interesting new thread idea anyways i seem to remember cutting padouk or sumthing and it would start to burn my nose
  11. heres the craigslist link. If you are interested you can email me or send me a pm. im asking $400 but i will negotiate a fair price. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/msg/893699485.html matt
  12. i saw a cool guitar at a pawnshop the other day and would like to look it up but i cant remember the name on the headstock i remember itwas a double cutaway but what was cool was that it had these three rubber buttons to activate the pickups that im assuming where active and i think there was access to trimpots through the back cavity covers. any ideas?
  13. regular strat hardware w/ white pickguard, nothing special. but thanks for all the comments
  14. instead of starting a new topic i decided to post my newest swirl here http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r161/ze...ld/IMG_0670.jpg
  15. What do you think http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r161/ze...rs/IMG_0656.jpg http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r161/ze...rs/IMG_0662.jpg http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r161/ze...rs/IMG_0657.jpg
  16. ive heard of people clamping a drill to a table and then you can control the spaeed manually
  17. r u using borax because im not noticing a difference between when i do and when i dont and ive tried it w/ just a little and ive tried it w/ a lot but i dont really notice the difference
  18. i think 320 good enough but its always better to go to finer grits. i have used polyurethane over enamel with success except for i had i small problems when i buffed it but i think its cuz i didnt let it sit long enough. but anyways i think using poly over enamel is okay but i don't think it would work w/ enamel over the urethane
  19. originally this was just black but i repainted it w/ alexi laiho style pinstripes for my friend
  20. what happens alot is i let it sit for a second or two then it dries on the water so i use a skinny dowel or something like that and gather up all the dried parts and sometimes there is paint still floating around that isnt dried but it tends to be very thin and wouldnt cover a whole body. im pretty sure its gloss not matte. do u have problems with every color or only some. For some reason the blacks greens and reds are extremely difficult to get to work, but when i use silver for example it works almost every time. i think i will try thinnning the paint just a little w/ mineral spirits.
  21. i just use a piece of newspaper and push the excess paint to the side once its submerged
  22. i used about a little more than a cup of borax and testors paint and kept having problems w/ the paint skinning over, as in it would create a film over the surface. but for some reason when i put the paint in the last time it didnt skin over so i dipped it and it came out fine
