  1. ohh ok, i see what you mean. http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electronics,_pickups/Components:_Switches_and_knobs/Super_Switch.html?tab=Details#details if I was to get this than^ How would I go about wiring this up?
  2. Ok, I'll try and wire up my 5 way switch for this purpose than, that way I can keep my 1990 Ibanez Jem looking stock. The switch looks like this: http://www.electric-guitar-info.com/images/5-way-switch.jpg I am thinking that I can have the On mode being the down position on the switch and than the other 4 selections can act as a killswitch. How can I do that, I dont want to have any noise when I unselect the pickups. I still dont know how I would wire that up, would anybody be able to edit the picture with some wiring for me? Help would be truly appreciated!
  3. Would it be possible to do this same thing but with a 5 way strat style selector switch? or maybe there is a special strat style selector switch that will do this and fit in my guitar so I dont have to drill any holes?
  4. Quick question. I would like to use a toggle switch in a guitar basically as a killswitch. I have two pickups and I want to keep their signals separate so I can send them to different places. However I want to switch them both on and both off with the same switch. Is this possible with say a DPDT switch? and how would I wire that? Thanks!
  5. I am wondering if it is possible to use a dpdt switch or something to split a guitar signal two ways depending on the switch's position. For example... position one send 2 pickup signals right to different output jacks (keeping the signals split), and than position two send both pickups signals to a pickup selector switch. I want to do this so I can change pickups via footswitch, but than there are time when I need to use another rig, and I would like to be able to switch pickups from my guitar.
  6. Hey guys, I have a custom switching scheme I would like to understand how to get done. First of all I would like to do it without defacing my guitar (1990 Ibanez Jem. So that means I have 2 places pots, rotary switchs, w/e... and one spot for a pickup switch. I'd like to be able to switch between my pickups via footswitch so what I had in mind was to install a stereo guitar jack and wire the bridge pickup to the tip and the neck pickup to the ring, than I would be able to switch between the with a footswitch. Its just what goes in between the jack and the pickups that I am not sure about. so ideally I dont want to even use the two pot positions. I was thinking I could use a concentric volume pot to control the volume of both pickups with one knob and still keep the signals separate for the stereo jack. so after the volume pot I could send the pickup signals to a 3 way pickup switch (or more than 3?), and I would like to be able to switch between both pickup being on for switching with the footswitch, and being able to switch pickups from the guitar for those times I use my guitar with other peoples rigs. when both pickups are engaged the bridge would need to go to the tip, and the the neck to the ring of the jack. I would make the selection for both pickups the furthest down position, the bridge in the middle position and the neck pickup in the normal highest position. Now to do this, I realized that I would need to make it so when I switch to the neck pickup, instead of it getting its signal sent to the ring, I would need to send it to the tip, for it to work with a normal patch cable. Could somebody help me with this wiring scheme? How could I set up the pickup selector to do all this? Thanks!
  7. TBH I wouldn't do this repair myself, but I still want to know what can be done so I can get someone qualified to do it
  8. I have an ibanez neck that seems to have more bow on the high strings side, than the low strings, and is also sticking out/back bowed, at the first several frets. So the neck is not flat... I am wondering what the best fix for this is? What would typically done? I heard a couple possible things so far... cutting the wood on the fretboard to make it flat again... I dont like the sounds of this as it is a 1990 Jem777VBK with some pretty intricate inlays. The other thing I though of was adjusting the height of the frets differently to compensate for the warped neck... how would this work? Would it be noticeably weird, playing in one area with higher frets than another spot? What other options do I have? Also, what do you guys think of the Plek thing?
  9. On my input jack in my guitar does it matter which lug the ground and the signal wire is connected too? Can they be switched? or does each wire have to be connected to a specific lug on the jack?
  10. Too many factors to consider : Experience of person doing it, softeness of wire, how many times it was done, how well the frets were installed in the first place, how true the fret-board was/is, how the person played the neck, etc. Thats why I said a range... can you guestimate?
  11. Thanks guys What is the range that would be shaved off from a fret dress? in any measurment (I can just convert it) for example... a heavy fret dress on a guitar with really worn frets = .4 mm a light fret dress just to even out the frets that are hardly even worn = .2 mm Those numbers are just random to put int for an example... could somebody with fret dressing experience, tell me approximately how much is shaved off in each of those 2 situations^^^ thanks this is really helping me out
  12. I am wondering about de-hookign my tone pots in my guitars. I have read that it will give you a hair more output... as well as the fact that I wont be accidentally hitting it and not knowing... killing my tone. Can anybody tell me how to disconnect it, and tell me what effects it does have on your tone? thanks!
  13. First of all is this type of thing possible from a wiring mistake even? Could it be the fact that when I grounded wires from the pickups on the volume pot that grounded them all in the same spot and may be touching? If not I hope Dimarzio didn't damage my pickup idk what I would do...
