  1. So, I've finally gotten back at the guitar, and this is a quick mock up. I've only cut the pickguard; I still need to route out the spot for the neck pickup. The fret dot markers are only placed on the neck, I'm hoping to install them today. Things are coming together. http://photos-h.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-...211007_8865.jpg http://photos-a.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-...211008_9178.jpg http://photos-b.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-...211009_9436.jpg
  2. I also bought a pre-fabricated nut. Is this going to affect it as well? because when i put the nut in the fingerboard, I eyed it up and it did not look like the string action would be high enough. Edit: never mind, found the answer.
  3. so it's been too long, but i've gotten back to the ol' guitar and i have a question. I bought a pre slotted fingerboard from stew mac and was wondering, do you have to sand the fingerboard down to to a certain thickness or is it dependent upon the guitar that the neck is going on to?
  4. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=170099643662 link to auction
  5. this many http://www.zacharyguitars.com/SimcoxW20.JPG
  6. here's my latest progress here's the neck joint, you can kind of see the gap on the bass side of the neck pocket http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c10/pete...on/DSCN0182.jpg another shot of the body http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c10/pete...on/DSCN0180.jpg two shots of the headstock veneer http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c10/pete...on/DSCN0183.jpg http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c10/pete...on/DSCN0184.jpg
  7. I used the rails-along-the-side-of-the-neck method that mickguard used.
  8. i think it's a little much. The rear cutout seems kinda like an after thought. though i give you credit for trying something different. the rear cut out is a good idea though, i'd play with that a little more.
  9. Over the past two days I've routed the control cavity, the pickup cavities and the neck pocket. Unfortunately, i routed the neck pocket a little big. there's about a millimeter on the left and right side of the neck. Is this gonna be a problem? and if so, would i just put in two little shims to fix it?
  10. EDIT: listing on ebay. I'll put a link up to the auction as soon as i list it.
  11. I have a Jackson simulvalve 400 power amp that was given to me by rene benton of Junk Yard Prophet. He gave it to me in what he said was full working order, despite a broken jack on the back of the unit. i brought it to our local music shop where i had them repair the jack and take a look at the power amp as a whole for any mechanical flaws. After inspection, they deemed it in complete working order. specs 200 WATTS PER CHANNEL @ 4 OHMS OR 150 WATTS PER CHANNEL @ 8 OHMS. IT IS BRIDGEABLE. IT IS EQUIPPED WITH AN XLR JACK, BINDING POST CONNECTORS, AND PROTECTION CIRCUIT. it is cosmetically flawed so i will post some pics up soon. I guess the question would be, would anyone be interested in purchasing such an item? If so, PM me.
  12. Maybe you'll come out with a free tour
  13. whew, that's reassuring. where do you get the bridge parts if i may ask.
  14. well if your offering, i'll keep that in mind. I'm very interested in a different approach to guitars... granted i probably shouldn't get too over my head seeing as how i'm only on my first build as of now. How much experience do you think someone should have before trying to build a guitar with a fanned fretboard? by the way, nice guitar.
  15. so as of now, how is the guitar looking? did you decide on a finish?
  16. I had to look it up too, but here's the explanation. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/O_RLY%3F
  17. Are you still going this direction with the finish, because it would seriously be killer. Edit: I agree, the neck looks sweet too
  18. If it was my goal to have a fighting chance in the GOTM, what would you expect to see in the guitar. I believe meticulous craftsmanship is a must, but provided you are a good builder, would exotic woods or intricate inlays aid in attaining this goal, or is it just making something that takes everyone by surprise?
  19. something just catches my attention with robbie mcdade's marseer basses. I really love what he did with the headstock and the bridge. http://projectguitar.ibforums.com/index.ph...c=26680&hl=
