  1. what you say is true, skibum, but ive never heard the war called that. and on a side note, i took us history at college last year and the professor had just moved that year from pennsylvania, where he was teaching the same thing, and he knew not to be biased.
  2. Jivin, a little history.... the confederate flag really isnt that bad. its simply modern media and other things that make it look bad and negative. all it represents is the southern states during the civil war. the civil war did not take place because of slavery and stuff. slavery was all over the US, and it only became a factor later in the war. it started because all the northern states up north were industrialized and much more wealthier. the southern states were all about farming and plantations and stuff. so the north pretty much controlled everything, including the government. the south hated this and wanted to break away from the states and form their own republic, which would be called the confederate states of america. north didnt want this for various reasons so they declared war on the south. the only reason they added slavery into the mix was because the majority of the slaves were down south working on the farms. this way, they had the moral advantage and made it look like they were the good guys. eventually the north would win simply because it was so much more wealthy and industrialized (the north had factories to build guns while every southern gun was handmade). and the norht won. but just barely. it was the bloodiest war the us has ever had. after that, the next presidential election was held, and lincoln, the northern republican, would win because of the many votes of the southern blacks who voted out of gratitude for freeing them. after it, reconstruction in the south would begin, but lincoln would be assasinated, and reconstruction would pretty much stop, and northern politicians would sweep down south and take offices everywhere, making the northern presence everywhere. they would pretty much torture the southerners and make them go bankrupt and unable to gain anything. this would go on for a long time, but thats a different story lol wow. cant believe i just wrote that much. thats pretty much all i remember from us history in a nutshell. and one other little thing.....dr.jabsco....i was excited when you gave me that site, until i went to it and found it was a site about restaurants lol
  3. hey thanks again for the nice comments. a few things i have to say... 1. sorry the pics arent workin right now. i use village photos and im only allowed 5 mb every day or sumthin and it went over. so if any of yall know of any other sites i could use, it would be much appreciated. 2. this guitar was inspired by zakk wyld's custom lp. its a confederate flag thats all burnt and scratched and its got what looks like old bottle caps all over it. pretty sweet if you havent seen it. 3. its alright to play. its the sort of guitar that when you play, you feel mean and want to play mean things. its got a sort of dark feel to it that urges you to thrash. i didnt do anything to the neck, so it still plays fine. 4. i wouldnt do this to a good guitar. please dont think im brave and stuff by going after my fender american strat. because its not. its a squier strat. i bought it from a friend for 40 bucks. it was actually my first guitar. i now have 4 other nicer and much more expensive guitars and i wouldnt dream of doing anything like this to them. but now this is probably my favorite looking guitar lol. anyways. a lot of what happened with the paintjob had weeks of planning, and a lot of it was pure luck that it turned out that way. either way, its pimp as mess haha
  4. thanks, yall. to answer your question, the black doesnt come off on your hands. i used automotive primer so it was tough, and it stayed perfectly on the wood. on the pickguard, it would come off if you rubbed hard enough tho. but i didnt want that shiny finish. so i went to hobby lobby and got some matte finish and sprayed that on it. now its as rugged as it looks. and probably just as flammable.... anywho, peace
  5. Hi! Probably none of you have seen me on here before, but ive been a member for quite a while. ive just been gone this summer in a different state at a friends house. but i took my guitar, and i had some fun with it hehe. it was a loooong and annoying process, but it has finally come to an end. the pictures really suck and dont do it justice, so im gonna do my best to describe the process as well. ok, some of you, if you have incredible memories may remember a topic a loooong time ago that i did where it was about how id duct-taped my red guitar and made it into a british flag. it actually didnt look bad at all. that was the start. inspiration had struck. i couldnt just leave it. i wrote down my plan and drew out sketch after sketch, adding ideas each time, until i was ready. i practiced over and over on pieces of scrap wood until it was perfect. so then i proceeded to remove the duct tape and take it apart and strip the paint and all that. then i taped it all off and painted the british flag on there with some regular old spray paint. yes, regular spray paint. then i went and got some cheap gloss-in-a-can and added about 6 coats. at this point i was so close to not wanting to go on cuz it looked really good. but, i stuck to my plan and kept going. and it went craaaaazy after that. i put the whammy bar and wire plug thing and the metal thing at the bottom of the strings in a bowl of salt water and let them sit. yea. haha. im crazy. then my friend knew a place with some big blowtorch thingy that just shot out heat and not flames, so we went and visited and he helped me out. i told him what i was wanting and he gladly shot my poor guitar for about 3 minutes with his heat gun thing and melted the gloss. then we quickly hit it with a high powered fan with spray nozzles on it spraying out cold water. this created a rippling and cracked effect in the gloss. everyone thought i was stupid and insane, but i was extatic with the results, i coulnt of asked for it to be any better. so when we got home i proceeded to take it to the garage and get the chizzle and hammer on it and scratch parts of it away, in one large area going down to the wood, and in parts only taking off the gloss. it made a sort of scratched away sort of explosion thing. lookin great. so after all this torture i was almost done. just a little more paint. i got some black primer paint and sprayed parts of it, creating a burnt and worn effect. i got the stuff out of the water, that had corroded just like i wanted and i put everything together. This thing just feels mean. i am so incredibly happy with the results and everyone that said i was crazy when i started is now bowing down lol i hope you like it! -nathan again, these pictures dont do it justice, so please dont judge it by them.
  6. i thought i'd heard that sumwhere before ab out the whole iron maiden/last resort thing. i just didnt know if it was true or not. anyways, whichever it comes from it still sounds cool. a couple more really easy ones that i just enjoy playing that are fairly new espionage by greenday secret agent kinda sound. pretty cool and the riff thing thats played during the intro to times like these by foo fighters(an AWSOME band!)
  7. Hey! Just wonderin what everybody's favorit eriffs are mine are: crazy train last resort and my favorite... great white buffalo by ted nugent. now that is fast picking!
  8. i just got some of those a little while ago from a local guitar shop for like 4-5 bucks i think. i know it wasnt much. the only problem with them is they are very hard to get to fit on some knowbs. the hole in the dice isnt wide enough and i actually had to get an exacto knife in there and scrape it out til it was wide enuf. but now it works, although i dont think they look very cool once they'r on there.
  9. hope they're somehow detachable or just really good lookin fakes, cuz if theyr not, thats a pretty good waste of a couple nice guitars. although they do look cool
  10. (CRAZY IDEA ALERT) you could always do both!!!!!!! restore it, AND make it a candle holder!!! Just make it so it aint messin with anythin else on the guitar. You know how pimp that would look on stage, jammin away with a candle burnin in front of your fingers. Just a thought. a crazy thought, but a thought nontheless.
  11. is there any alternative to the stewmac polishing compounds? I'm a little tight on income right now and cant afford the stuff along with the shipping. Anything that i could find at a local hardware or auto store? Help is greatly appreciated!
  12. When in London, i demanded that we go to Tin pan alley. It was awesome. guitar store after guitar store. if you ever get the chance to go to london, dont miss it at all cost! Anyways, a few of the guitar stores i went in were selling tons of bodys. It was awesome. They just had buckets full of lots of em taht you could dig through and choose from. they were all full wood and nice n smooth. They also had buckets full of necks, too - some with fretboards already on. Everything was surprisingly cheap too! Hope this helps!
  13. Hey, yall! While on the topic of finding cheap airbrushes cheap, TRY EBAY! Ive been lookin on there for a while and some of the deals are incredible! I even found some new compressors for under $30!!! hope this helps sum1
